Edessa's POV

I was on my way to my home, on the outskirts of the town Moonlace. It was a simple town, really- not your New York or Orlando, Florida, but a simply a town.
I've lived here for years... anyway,
I noticed a figure moving in the shadows. While I checked the bushes, somebody tapped on my shoulder. I thought it was my sister, Romi, but nobody was there.
I sighed. My mind was playing tricks on me. I turned into my vampire state, since I hid myself as a human. I heard a gasp, and ran to my house and the end of the road. I quickly opened the tall, iron gate and jumped inside, not even greeting anyone. It was a dark, gloomy mansion, and I had to light a candle to get around.
I ran up 12 flights of stairs, and went into the study hall to do class. It was boring,
simply how to bite a human properly, and how to choose the right person to bite.
My mother, Elina, was teaching the class. She smiled at us- three kids of two vampires. I was looking at random things- eyeballs preserved in some gooey
substance- it looked greenish to me. Then my mother smiled, showing off her vampiric teeth. "Now, time to bite a human! I've captured one who happened to be following Edessa home. I believe he was very shocked, so I put him in a calmness trance. So since he was following you, Edessa, why not go give it a try?"
I nodded, and slowly walked out of the room. I noticed it was my human best friend- Ruki. I reluctantly put my teeth into his neck, feeling the blood. When I was done, he woke up, and I showed my mom my work. She smiled. "Very good. I'll turn him normal, but we must all turn to our human forms."
We did as told, and his mark and the trance dissappeared. He quickly sat up, and looked at me. "Edessa! I was following you... because, well-"
He pulled me into a kiss. My mother and the other left, going down to tell my father I was home.
I did have feelings for him, so I accepted the kiss. when we broke apart, I smiled, and we talked a bit before he left. Then I noticed my parents eyeing him, and I went down, listening to their converstaion.
"Dear, leave her and her boyfriend be."
My mother shook her head. "She must marry a vampire to keep her vampire powers!"
My father sighed. "I looked into the future. They will wed, but she will not keep her powers. They must be passed to a mortal who can handle the responsibility, and she will have to give up her life here and become one of his kind. Though I don't mind, she is only thirteen dear."
My mother started to cry, but I don't know why. Why did she care that I kept my powers?
I ran back up.
