Alright, you know how I adore Richard Belzer, right? How he's a total conspiracy theorist/stand-up comedian/author/movie star? Well, I've read a little too much into him and now find conspiracies everywhere. 0_o A little unnerving, but definitely okay.
I know half of you don't know what Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac are, so let me fill you in. I'm going out on a limb to assume you know what a mortgage is. If you don't, Google it. Well, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are two government-sponsored enterprises. They basically hold mortgage, and are the two leading participants in the US's secondary mortgage market.
Now you've heard about how Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are being joined together in a federal takeover. "Get to the point, Shaz!" you're saying right now. Hold your horses. I'm getting there.
So, "federal" takeover sounds a little eerie. It should! By taking over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the U.S. government now controls over 60% of America's mortgages. Try sleeping with THAT at night.
How's that for a conspiracy, Mr Belzer?
