It seems so long ago
I knew your heart so well
You knew mine as well
So how come every time
I hear that voice
I remember the final day we said farewell
You looked down at me
Your face shadowed by a tree
I looked up at you
The sun shining in my eyes
You smiled so warmly
Your eyes were like a thousand shining stars

Will you finally be the real you?"
As I watched you go
I wondered what you meant
Wasn't I being the real me?
I would sit for hours
Just thinking of the next time I would see you
And then I'd remember those words that still held me prisoner
"Will you finally be the real you?"
I wanted to be me
I wanted you to see me above the crowd
I couldn't let you walk away without seeing who I was
But somehow I lost myself along the way
And it's been hell trying to find myself...
You told me to do it
So I tried
I knew that once I figured it out
You'd come back to life
And that question's filled my head since you left
Never letting me go
Never letting me rest
The real me was lost along the line
Of finding you
And now I can't remember what it was like
But I know someday I'll finally find me
And then
And then
I'll finally be the real me
