Chapter 5- The Decision of Trust
I woke up feeling sweaty again…and sick. I looked over at my alarm clock…4:15 am. I put my head under my pillow thinking about what had happened yesterday…my best friend who I had known for 5 years was against my family in the fight for dominance…why didn’t Jamie tell me she was a werewolf..? I wanted to cry… why was everybody keeping secrets from me…ones that should be told. My choice to which team I join is going to be tough…I want to join the vampires because my family is with that team…and I want to join the werewolves too but…I don’t know what to do…BRINNG, BRINNG! My cell phone was ringing.. I grabbed my cell phone and looked at the caller ID… it was Jamie. “Hello?” I said answering my phone. “Hey Kairoyo…its me Logan.” He said with a sleepy like voice. “Logan! Umm is something wrong?” I said with concern. “No. I am fine Kairoyo…can you come over like right now?” he said still like as if he just woke up. “Yea just let me get dressed and I will be right there ok Logan?” I said getting off my bed. “Yea see when you get here.” He said hanging up. I put my phone on the dresser and plugged it up to its charger. I looked in my dresser for something to wear, I guess I could wear my white tank top and blue jeans. I grabbed them and a pair of underwear and went to the shower. I got in the shower and let the water just run straight over me. I wondered what Logan had to tell me. Maybe it was something important or maybe just pointless. I got out of the shower and put on my clothes. I found my white shoes right next to the door with a note attached to it. The note said; Dear Kairoyo, I know its Saturday and everything but remember to feed Pochi before you go out today. I had to be at work early today so if you go out remember to lock the door, Love Mom. Oh that’s right I got to feed Pochi my orange and white calico cat. I looked into the basement and saw Pochi playing with Samutoyo’s blue and red sports cap. “Hello Pochi!” I said picking him up and hugging him. I put Pochi back down on the ground and looked around for the Cat Food. It was right next to my box of memories. Man I haven’t seen that box in 12 years. I wonder what was in it. Well I promised Logan I would be there after I took a shower so I would feed my cat and be on my way. I would come get it out later on in the afternoon. I poured just enough food in his bowl to last him till 3:00 pm. I might take a nap when I get back from Logan’s house. I petted my cat on its head and ran out of the basement. I walked out the door making sure I had locked it. I did. I knew were the secret key was… it was in the vase with the flowers. We had to move it from under the mat cause that was too obvious. I ran two blocks again straight towards Jamie's house. I wasn’t tired this time…I was pretty fit but I don’t usually run two blocks a day you know. I only run one block usually. I knocked on the door five times to signal it was me. Logan opened the door and smiled at me. “Hey Logan what is it?” I said walking in the house. Logan followed me in and closed the door. “Have you made you decision yet Kairoyo?” he said standing behind me. “Well I don’t really know yet Logan… I mean I want to join you guys but…Jamie…” I said sadly. Logan shook his head and frowned. “ I am not trying to pressure you Kairoyo…its just I want to know if your with us or against us.” He said still behind me. I closed my eyes and sat down on the couch, Logan sat down beside me. He kept staring at me making me more nervous than I was before. “umm Logan can you stop staring at me its making me..” I stopped. I looked around and saw that Logan was gone. I got up and looked around the living room. Not there. I went to the dining room. Not there either. For a boy who really had no athletic abilities what so ever he could run pretty fast to get out of the way. I ran towards the kitchen and heard a crash. I ran to the kitchen faster than I was before. I looked through the kitchen window and saw Logan on the kitchen floor. “Logan!” I screamed. I ran into the kitchen and dropped to my knees to see if he was ok. He was still breathing. Thank goodness. I looked over at the pantry and there was the boy that was in my garage yesterday. “Who are you?” I said to him. He smirked at me. “What is all this about?!” I yelled at him. “You ask me as if you don’t already know Kairoyo? What do you think its about it?” he said smiling. “ I do know…but why do you all attack each other?! Why cant you work together?!” I said in confusion “Its called dominance child. Something you know nothing about. We have big plans for you and your vampire friends Kairoyo… if you value your life you WILL join us… I look forward to seeing you again.” He said jumping out the window. What does he mean Big Plans for us? I tried waking up Logan but had no luck… he was out cold. I cant leave him here defenseless. I have to stay to protect him…he would do the same for me. I wonder if Jamie's here or not. I grabbed a knife out the drawer and stuck it in my pocket making sure it wasn’t visible. I walked out of the kitchen slowly, making sure that nobody else was in their house. I carefully edged my way over to the stairs, scared and confused of what just happened. I climbed up the stairs and looked in Jamie's room. Not there. Where could she be? I walked into Jamie's room looking around at the walls and floor. She painted her room very colorful, it had peace signs, smiley faces and everything basically you would expect a hippie to paint. I saw here cell phone vibrating on her desk. I walked over to the cell phone and picked it up. It said one new txt message. I looked at the txt…it was from Misyugo, it said are you coming soon? Does that mean Misyugo is a werewolf too? I knew were Jamie was now, I had to get there as quick as I could. I went back downstairs and saw Logan limping out of the kitchen. “Logan!” I yelled. I walked over there and helped him to the lay down on the couch. Logan smiled at me. I smiled back. He scoffed and said “I guess I sort of pushed my luck against Austin.” “Austin?” I said confused. “yea Jamie has like some weird crush on him…why I have no idea.” He said shrugging. I shrugged too. Austin was pretty tall, he had dark brown hair and dark skin sort of like an Indian. Jamie likes those kind of guys I guess. I rubbed Logan’s hair and left the house. I saw Jamie's bicycle and decided that I would take her bike and make time to come back and check on Logan. I jumped on to Jamie's bike and put on her helmet and was on my way to Misyugo’s house. Misyugo's house was right next to mine so it would be two blocks there. I pedaled as fast as I could finally getting there with my legs hurting. I knocked on Misyugo's door three times. Jamie answered the door. “Jamie I need to talk to you.” I said to her. “is it really important?” she said. “Yes its about your little secret.” I said frowning “What little secret? I have quite a few Kairoyo.” She said expressionless. Before I could speak Jamie blurted out “if you know it then what side are you choosing?” she staring at me closely. I didn’t know what to say… I was speechless. Jamie kept staring at me waiting for an answer. “ Jamie I am sorry but I think I am with my family on this…” I said looking down. “So you want to leave me and Misyugo for something you don’t even know what we are fighting about do you?” she said frowning. I shake my head still frowning. She started to close the door but I stopped it with my foot. “Jamie why don’t you just tell me?” I said with concern. “well do you want to know? Will you listen to me?” she said still frowning. “Yes Jamie. We might be enemies through clans but friends through heart” I said smiling. Jamie smiles and lets me in the house. We sit down on the couch and I listen carefully to Jamie's reason. “The werewolf’s think that the vampires are secretly conspiring against humans and they plan to turn every human into a vampires to make vampires the dominant race. The werewolf’s main ambition in life is to protect the humans.” Jamie said looking at me with eyes of concern. “Oh so that’s what Austin meant by big plans.” I said smiling. “Yeah I miss Austin… I don’t get to talk to him as much.” Jamie said frowning. “You have a thing for Austin don’t you Jamie?” I said laughing a little. “Yeah, Totally Kairoyo!” she said pushing me. “anymore questions you nosy little girl?” she said laughing. “No not really.. I just came to ask you that.” I said smiling. I hugged Jamie and walked out Misyugo's house. I had to go see Logan now.
