CHAPTER ONE
10 years later...
Bruce stared at the ground as he walked through the mall towards the foodcourt. It was an unusually quiet day. he could hear his own footsteps as he walked. he thought to himself ok i just meet sasha and kyle, go to the movies and i'll tell her later. good. check ..these thoughts were normal for bruce, constantly having to re-assure himself. He talked himself through almost all his problems these days. as he came to the foodcourt his thoughts were lost and footsteps drowned out to the conversations of random people. his concentration broke he looked up and saw sasha and kyle sitting at a table sharing a plate of fries. it always made him uncomfortable to see them together. Kyle, his best friend, one of the most popular guys he ever met, captain of the football team when they were in high school, more girlfriends than he could count and a great job that paid him very well sitting with Bruce's girlfriend sasha. Sasha was a beautiful black haired gothic type girl who could always cheer bruce up. she introduced him to his new favorite styles of music. she always seems happier with him... he thought to himself. As he got closer they noticed him. She jumped up right away and hugged him tightly.
"where were you? we waited for like...3 hours!"
"i was busy sorry Sash."
"it's ok, but don't let it happen again."
Kyle got up slowly and said abruptly
"Hey man have you heard the news reports lately? I swear something's going down."
Kyle towered a good 2 feet taller than bruce and at least 100 lbs more in muscle. Bruce always felt small in front of him.
"what do you mean kyle? All those people disappearing in the country?"
"YEA! something is happening..."
he was cut off by the mall intercom..a woman's voice rang throughout the mall
"the mall will be closing early today due to unforseen circumstances"
They walked together towards the nearest exit grumbling. if either of them were to look to their right they would have noticed the old woman chewing through a young mans face....
