On February 28 (a week from Saturday as of now), I have solo&ensemble contest and am pretty much doomed to epically fail. crying The solo I must perform is called Sonata Op. 120 No. 1 mvt.2 (Andante un poco Adiago) and mvt. 3 (Allegretto grazioso). I like my clarinet solo until I have to play it and turn what is meant to be a beautiful sonata by Brahms into a train wreck. AND IT'S SOOOO LONG (compared to the solos I'm used to playing which are about 3-5 minutes long)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! crying Why did my lesson's teacher decide that I don't "challenge" myself enough? RAWR!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, I get my clarinet for 10 minutes BY MYSELF (along with piano accompaniment that completely throws me off) in front of some person that knows everything there is to know about clarinets and marks down any mistake he/she sees so that they can tell me how little I do right and how much I suck. Oh joy. I guess it could be worse though- I could have to play all 4 movements of the sonata or worse, it could have a lot of screech notes, be super long, extremely technical, and fast. Or it could be Flight of the Bumblebee. That would probably cause me to combust, explode, and implode all at the same time. Not like anyone cares anyway....
