Chapter 1
When I first new I was different was when I was 14 and my friends would comment that I have the body and built of a sports player. I was really well toned. But the problem was I never played sports or lifted a weight in my life. Embarrass on how I couldn’t explain my features that I cant even explain it to myself, I just keep up a lie that I worked out with my dad at home.

When I turned 15, another strange thing is happening to my body. My hearing is more intense. One day when I came home from school, I finish my homework and then helped my mom prepare dinner for my family. My brother was in his room listening to the new “fall out Boy CD”, and my father was out late as usual.
“Briony can you cut the tomatoes for the salad dear.” My mother asks me. “Sure” I replied. The phone rang soon after, in which my mother answered it.
“Hello” she said. I could tell that it was my dad, because he always call around the same time that tell us he was staying late at work to finish some paper work. My dad was a lawyer. I can tell my mother was saddened, and went up stairs to her room to talk to him in private. I stood there cutting the last of the tomatoes for the salad. Turning my attention back to my cutting, I soon noticed there was a buzzing that I could find. I knew it was a fly, but I didn’t see it near me. So I set down my knife and followed the sound. I walk to the living room still I could not find the fly. I took a deep breath and just embrace my new hearing. Flowing the sound to the basement and there I saw the fly near the small window in the basement. I was freaked out that I could hear one fly really far away. But that wasn’t the things that scared me the most. It was when I was heading back up stairs that I could hear the conversation my mother was having on the phone with my father. I repeated the same routine I did with the fly. I took a deep breath and listen closely. I would hear my mother telling my father that his family needs him here and that she needed him hear. But got my attention was the very small distance voice in the phone back ground saying “ Come back to dinner dear” and I know my father had moved on with another woman. And if I told my mother it would break my heart but secondly would she really believed me that I heard it from down stairs?
