Movies, don't you just find them fascinating? From hiding behind a pillow during a horror movie, or your eyes glued to the screen as an intense moment happens. Hahaha, or watching Guillermo cheating on Lucille on a weird soap opera movie.
Last night I was watching The Big Tease (don't get any weird ideas, you sick pervs!) and they were showing trailers for up coming movies. It got me thinking on how much I appreciate the media, well for movies anyways. Really, the media can go die in a pit, it is basically all their fault the teenagers these days are so obsessed with looks and being more skinny.
But anyways, I am just going to list a few movies I would like to watch this year. Hmm, have y'all noticed that it seems that there are a lot of good movies this year? It's like 2009 is the movie year.
Transformers: Rise of the Fallen ~PG-13 ~June 24, 2009 ~The battle for Earth has ended but the battle for the universe has just begun. After returning to Cybertron, Starscream assumes command of the Decepticons, and has decided to return to Earth with force. The Autobots believing that peace was possible finds out that Megatron's dead body has been stolen from the US Military by Skorpinox and revives him using his own spark. Now Megatron is back seeking revenge and with Starscream and more Decepticon reinforcements on the way, the Autobots with reinforcements of their own, may have more to deal with then meets the eye.
Sin Nombre (Without Name) ~R ~Honduran teenager Sayra (Gaitan) reunites with her father, an opportunity for her to potentially realize her dream of a life in the U.S. Moving to Mexico is the first step in a featful journey of unexpected events.
Mutant Chronicles ~R ~April 24, 2009 ~It's the year 2707. Earth's natural resources have been exhausted by mankind. Battle rages between the soldiers of four leading Corporations: the Capitol, Bauhaus, Mishima and Imperial.
Mitch Hunter and Nathan Rooker, battle hardened Capitol soldiers, fight a desperate battle against a Bauhaus advance. When an errant shell destroys an ancient stone seal, they find themselves facing a new enemy: hideous necromutants, with boneblades that grow from their arms. Mitch barely manages to escape. Nathan does not.
The mutants multiply by millions and they destroy all before them. The Corporations' leader, Constantine, is about to abandon the planet and leave countless innocents to their desperate fate, when he is approached by Brother Samuel, leader of the Brotherhood, an ancient monastic order.
Samuel is the keeper of the Chronicles, a book that prophesies both the rise of the Mutants, and of the 'Deliverer' that will destroy them. Samuel believes he is that Deliverer destined to journey deep into the earth and destroy the source of the mutant scourge.
He manages to recruit Mitch, along with a handful of like-minded soldiers: Steiner, honor bound Bauhaus officer; sword wielding Severian; street fighter El Jesus; fearless beauty Duval; and stoic warrior Juba.
"Mutant Chronicle" follows Mitch and Samuel's mission to venture into the very heart of the darkness in an attempt to save the planet from marauding hordes of deathless mutants.
Phoebe In Wonderland ~PG-13 ~March 6, 2009 ~Phoebe is the fantastical tale of a little girl (Elle Fanning) who won't, or can't, follow the rules. Confounded by her clashes with the rule-obsessed world around her, Phoebe seeks enlightenment from her unconventional drama teacher (Clarkson), even as her brilliant but anguished mother (Huffman) looks to Phoebe herself for inspiration.
The movie tells a story of a 9 year old girl, Phoebe (Elle Fanning) and her mother (Felicity Huffman). Phoebe seeks a role in her school's play, ''Alice In Wonderland'', directed by her teacher, Miss Dodger (Patricia Clarkson). While her mother supports her for the role, Phoebe is nervous and lacks self-confidence. The film follows Phoebe through the ups and downs of trying out, getting the role and being the "oddball" kid.
Felicity Huffman, Elle Fanning, and Patricia Clarkson star in director/screenwriter Daniel Barnz's illuminating tale of parenting and growth concernining an exceptional young girl whose troubling retreat into fantasy draws the concern of both her dejected mother and her unusually perceptive drama teacher. Phoebe (Fanning) is a talented young student who longs to take part in the school production of Alice in Wonderland, but whose bizarre behavior sets her well apart from her carefree classmates. Her mother (Huffman) is an aspiring academic who is beginning to feel like she has not only failed in her professional career, but as a parent as well. Though Phoebe's gifted drama teacher (Clarkson) has no doubts about the young girl's talent and capacity for learning, the frustration of seeing such a promising student slowly slip ever further away from reality soon becomes a growing concern both at home and at school.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine ~PG-13 ~May 1, 2009 ~Wolverine lives a mutant life, seeks revenge against Victor Creed (who will later become Sabertooth) for the death of his girlfriend, and ultimately ends up going through the mutant Weapon X program.
Race to Witch Mountain ~PG ~March 13, 2009 ~For years, stories have circulated about a secret place in the middle of the Nevada desert, known for unexplained phenomena and strange sightings. It's called Witch Mountain, and when a Las Vegas cab driver (Dwayne Johnson) finds two teens with supernatural powers in his cab, he suddenly finds himself in the middle of an adventure he can't explain. They work together to discover that the only chance to save the world lies in unraveling the secrets of Witch Mountain, and the race begins.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince ~PG-13 ~July 17, 2009 ~Harry Potter's sixth year at Hogwarts turns out to be quite the exciting year. First off is the arrival of a new teacher at Hogwarts, Horace Slughorn, who is a bit more useful to Harry than he realizes. Next, Harry obtains a Potions book which used to be belong to the very mysterious Half-Blood Prince. Harry finds that the Half-Blood Prince's ancient scribbles are written along the margins of almost every page, giving Harry advice on how to improve greatly on his Potions work, and also teaching him a few helpful (and dangerous) spells along the way.
Amidst this, Harry is starting private lessons with Professor Dumbledore, during which Harry learns the dark secrets of Voldemort's past, hoping that they could use these secrets to find a way to defeat him.
Harry's year gets even more stressful with the suspicious actions of Draco Malfoy, who has been sneaking around the school doing, so Harry assumes, Voldemort's bidding. Harry quickly becomes determined, and slightly obsessed, to find out exactly what Malfoy has been up to and putting and end to it.
Yet, during this time, Harry and his friends go through daily life, busy with school work, Quidditch, (in which Harry has been made captain of the team) and of course, romance. Ron has found a new girlfriend, Lavender Brown, a perky (if not obnoxious) Gryffindor student, and Hermione is not happy about it. Ron and Hermione's friendship takes a toll throughout the school year and Harry, as usual, is stuck in the middle. Harry, meanwhile, is facing a romantic dilemma of his own: he realizes he is falling for his best friend's sister, Ginny Weasley, who is unfortunately dating Harry's classmate, Dean Thomas. Harry's pining for Ginny and Ron's hilarious relationship with Lavender give this story a large dose of reality.
Throughout all the school drama, however, the obvious darkness of Voldemort's impending rise to power is always apparent. The incredible action-packed climax is sure to leave the audience stunned and, inevitably, prove that you shouldn't trust everybody who you think is good and also prove that not everyone can manage to survive.
New Moon ~PG-13 ~November 20, 2009 ~After Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) recovers from her run in with a vampire with a lust for the hunt and her blood, she celebrates her 18th birthday with her vampire boyfriend Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and his human-friendly "family." However, an accident during her birthday party results in Bella's blood being spilled and the newest vampire in the family, Jasper (Jackson Rathbone), finds it impossible to resist. Edward accidentally injures Bella more while saving her and then realizes that he and his family have endangered Bella's life with their very presence and so he decides that erasing his family (and himself) from her life would be the best thing for her. Edward leaves Bella with only one request: that she not put herself in danger. Completely devastated by the loss of her one true love, Bella finds friendship with Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) and also realizes that, against Edward's wishes, putting her life in danger through daredevil antics helps her get through this tough time. But this is not the only danger she is in...
After overcoming each setback that her relationship with Jacob throws at her, Bella concocts a stunt that outshines all the others. After a miscommunication, Edward is lead to believe that Bella has killed herself and makes plans to follow in her footsteps. Edward's "sister" Alice (Ashley Greene) learns of his plans and alerts Bella, realizing that she's the only one who could stop him. They begin the race against time, knowing that if they do not succeed in saving Edward's life, their lives will most certainly be at stake, too.
Seems like a lot right? Well, I like movies. I could make a list of movies I want to buy, but it might be even longer. ^_^ Just let it be heard that I want to buy Twilight, though the books were better than the movie. Actually, the movie kind of sucked, by nonetheless, my inner Twilight fan girl keeps resurfacing. Oh, and of course, Harry Potter is better than Twilight.
