So, I was feeling pretty bored and not completely healthy yesterday, so after some rest I decided to play zOMG.
It's been a while. I'm more of a solo player, so being overwhelmed by enemies is an issue. Plus my computer/internet don't always like games and Gaia and zomg are already laggy. When a ton of things are happening on the screen (ie: five ghost lanterns appear and start licking and four or more players are throwing off several different types of attacks) the game starts to freeze for around thirty seconds or so, then the screen changes to something that has happened or currently happening in the game (I don't know), then freezes again, and everything is slow. It is hard to do anything when that happens cause you have no idea what you are missing and I'm usually clicking my healing button just in case while also hitting dervish.
Another problem I have with the game is that I forget about stamina. I watch my health constantly, but I always forget stamina. If the game didn't have that little heartbeat sfx I'd likely be dead a whole lot more. While I was playing yesterday in Zen Gardens I completely forgot about stamina again while fighting against Taiko Drums. Heartbeat goes off, but the drum is nearly dead, so I wipe him out, which reduces me to around 2 stamina. My health is already kind of low, too. Before I can take off, though, another drum materializes right next to me. I run to the next screen without thinking and end up surrounded by five Taiko Drums. So then I have to take off running to avoid being killed by them, too. With six drums on my tail, I run to the next screen and there are two other players fighting taikos. They are both blue compared to my level. They were fighting their one single taiko when I run in. I get jumped by one of the yet to be attacked drums on that map, bringing our total up to seven. In order to get out of that map I run past those two players. They either tried attacking my mob or accidentally did. I went to the next map and none of the drums followed. When I had recovered a bit of stamina I went back to see if I could help and realized both were dazed. >__>; I didn't have my defib and both jumped back to the null chamber before I could say anything.
... I went lantern hunting for a while after that. Sorry to whoever you are. ^^;
I did manage to hit my 500 dead Kokeshi dolls goal yesterday and got my badge. Yay! I haven't hit 500 taiko drums, though. Plus I'm working on the de-composing quest. I've only been able to get three sets of notes for the...whatever his name is in Barton. I must have killed 70 drums before I had a full set of 6 to take back to him. I'm thinking of going back and getting 500 garlics. I know I should be pretty close. I thought I had it, but since it is not with the rest of my badges I was mistaken. I sometimes consider going about defeating 5000 of something, but I don't think I want to spend my time killing 1 type of monster for quite that long.
I really should get on with the rest of Kin's quests, but I'm not sure I can kill all of the nexus bosses on my own. I might have to breakdown and find someone to come with me, or at least have them tell me what the difficulty is like for someone with a CL of 3.9
There was one user who followed me around, kept sending me crew requests and kept begging me to give him some of the items I had equipped to my avatar. I told him no, that I was not going to be giving away my stuff, and then he ran off. Not long after that I saw his name come up on the chat screen in another section of the Gardens and he was begging someone else for stuff. sweatdrop There was another guy begging people to sell him dream weaves for the Katsumi quest and there were several users in the chat trying to explain he had to get the 15 in battle, otherwise it wouldn't count. It took a while before he stopped, but then he started into this story about how his friend needs to be paid back in dream weaves and he still wanted to buy them. Besides accidentally killing two players, or at least helping them kill themselves, and encountering some beggars, I ran to several nice users. Unfortunately I don't recall their names. We talked a bit and shared kills. I helped one girl get her 20 taiko's for Trip's quest. A few were more interested in my slippers, which made them @_@ at me. I never joined any crews. I just would rather play at my own pace and do my own thing. And most people were interested in quests at that time while I just wanted my badges and music notes. Plus my connection is sketchy and the window tends to freeze up quite a bit.
Does anyone else think the game gets too dark at night? I guess it might just be my screen, but I can barely seen any details in the game and can only find monsters by moving my mouse over the map area to find the red enemy indicators. For the darkest parts of the night, I usually have to head to Barton, an area that has lights that actually illuminate sections of the map, or go to an enemy free zone until it starts to lighten up again. Otherwise I can't see a darn thing and I've stumbled into dangerous places by accident.
So it was fun yesterday and I hope to play a little more tonight. Or maybe tomorrow night. *catches up on some work*

And yeah, night can be too dark, but maybe that's just my monitor gamma.
