The wind blew gently along the plains as the sun slowly sunk below the horizon. The dry plain grass made a rustling sound in the wind as the sky was slowly covered in stars that radiated off the nearby lake making the dry plains seem more beautiful in the night air. Along the mountain path that split the area away from the world a solitary figure stood on the hill looking down at a small nearby town curiously. His dark eyes were slightly tinged with yellow. He took one stop off the hill and into the light of the moon to reveal a wolf as black as night. Along his neck tiny lights sparkled almost as if stars. He shifted his wings and took another step forward now walking at a cautious pace mostly to not scare anyone, but also so he was prepared for anything that came his way. On his back half raised sat a pair of bright silver wings. Amoux stopped as he looked up at the moon and howled as the moon reflected it's light off of the wolf.
Amoux moved through the plains his paws hitting the ground heavily yet they barely made a sound. Dust flew up behind him as he narrowed his form and pulled his wings tightly against his body going faster than before. As he neared the town he started to slow down than stop his black eyes looked at the entrance as he smirked slightly to himself. Moving cautiously through the gate he snified the air looking for signs of life, instead he caught a whiff of the smell of rot and death all around him. Shivering lightly he stepped toward the center of town where before him stood what looked like a pile of bodies. His eyes widened with horror as he took a step back and made to turn around to come face to face with a creature who reeked of the stench of death. It stood just a bit taller than him and looked almost like a wolf except on it's head horns shaped out like a rams and wings as red as blood. The creature screeched and tackled Amoux who quickly dived out of the way and snapped at it's tail. The demon wolf hissed and made a swipe at Amoux's side, Amoux just barely moved and got nicked slightly. He looked at the demon creature and his eyes flashed as he raised his wings and slammed them down into the ground as the wind seemed to tear through the creature like daggers. The creature shrieked and took a step back it's eyes wide with fear before it fell to the ground, it's blood forming a puddle on the ground around it. Amoux panted and checked his wound before stepping back quickly and left the village just running now hoping to be far from the horrible stench of dead rotting bodies and the creatures that now controlled the village.
Amoux stopped finally collapsing with exhaustion. He laid there panting his fur slick with sweat and his wings were trailing somewhat along his side. After catching his breath he sat up on his hunches and looked up at the stars and the sky and howled up at the moon. His song told of the sadness of seeing so many dead and the evil of demons. He lower his muzzle and shook his fur and started walking again this time taking a slower pace hoping to find a town or small village that wasn’t completely taken over by creatures of the night.*
As the moon started to sink below the clouds Amoux paused and looked up at the rising sun and gave a yawn. He looked toward a group of trees and walked toward them planning on taking a short nap before he continued on his way. Yawning once more he laid down beneath the shade of the trees. He looked at his wound and his eyes glowed gently as they slowly healed. He sighed and stretched out fully and closed his eyes laying his head on his paws and drifting off to sleep.*
Amoux slept through most of the night and well into the next morning. As the sun was half way through the sky, clouds started to gather on the horizon. He continued to sleep not really paying much attention to the weather till it was too late. He woke with a start as lightening flashed and thunder shook the ground. He blinked and looked up at the gathering clouds in the sky with a frown and sighed. Getting up slowly he moved his wings to where they covered his head just as it started to pour. That day he did nothing, but walk since the rain didn’t seem to be wanting to let up and he hadn’t found a place to stay yet he couldn’t stop.
Amoux paused and snified the air curiously. He turned his head and almost shouted for there not but a mile away was a town and not a small one either a large one and by the smell of it with plenty of people to hide in with and to get a hot meal. He trotted toward the village than broke out into a run as his body blurred and in the wolves place a elf with long black hair ran in it's place. he wore all black clothing with his sword clipped on to his back his wings hidden under his tunic.
Amoux skidded to a stop short of the town entrance his sword clanging against his belt. He looked around the town wall with raised eyebrows as he noticed archers stationed at certain points of the wall, all at which were now pointed at him. He blinked and took a step back as a man wearing black armor and a red cape stepped up at the center and spoke* Stranger who has wondered these lands this is the village of Tora, and who are you and where do you hail from and do you mean us any harm.* Amoux smiled and bowed his hair covering his face. Rolling his eyes he brushed his hair back revealing his pointed ears. Many of the men gasped and the leader frowned, but kept his mouth shut till he was done.* I am Amoux, I hail from Half Moon Lake and I come seeking shelter and food I mean no harm.
The leader's frown deepened and he snapped his fingers as the archers lower their weapons and the city gates started to open. Amoux frowned and looked at the leader worried as his thoughts went back to the last village and he shivered. Shaking his head his black hair flying everywhere he took a step into the village keep one hand on the handle of his sword. While he hated to fight he would if he had to. The leader nodded and mumbled to a few men who quickly surrounded him their weapons drawn as the leader took a step forward and smiled a little. The leader looked like a war general his beard was a bit ragged and he hadn’t shaved in many moons. His face showed confidence in his abilities and his walk showed that he knew who he was and what his job was. Around him, his troups stood up straighter as if he inspired them and those around him. His armor was damaged in many places, but looked like he kept it well repaired and it shone in the daylight. He spoke in a voice brimming with confidence.* Hello Amoux of Half Moon Lake I am Morkanus Darthimore and leader of this village
Amoux smiles and raised his hand* It is good to meet you sir I seek only shelter and some food to warm my belly.*Morkanus Darthimore nodded and looked Amoux over curiously noticing the sword he frowned and looked at him curiously wondering just who this elf was. Amoux meanwhile was looking over the village with a slight frown noticing that parts of it were destroyed and some of the buildings were by the looks of it collapsing in on themselves. The peoples who were brave enough to stick their heads from their homes looked downtrodden and hungry as if they were running short on things. Amoux's frowned deepened and he looked at Morkanus* What has happened to this place to cause such depression through the villagers.* Morkanus frowned and waved down his men's weapons and waved for Amoux to follow him*
Amoux looked at the men as they lowered their weapon and stood back, but at the same time they held a constant frown and looked as if they would strike if he even dared to even touch their leader. Amoux looked at Morkanus a bit amazed he had never seen in all his life people so devoted to someone as they were to this man. He smiled lightly and nodded his thanks to them. Following Morkanus along the road or what was left of it Amoux eyes went wide with horror as he saw kids barely dressed looking up at him it made him feel like a bad person for asking for food now. Thy continued along the village to only find worse conditions, houses barely standing, the wall along the village in bad repair. children and adults like looked sick and as if they were lost as they wondered about the village to and from. The looks on the faces of the kids really got to him a look as if they had given up on life. It was just too much for Amoux. He turned his eyes and focused them on the man with a frown. Morkanus shook his head and turned away with tears in his eyes and he started to speak slowly with a quiver in his voice.* Many months ago the supply trains stopped coming, the people are famished and kids and adults are dieing almost everyday and we don’t know why.*The leader shivered and looked at Amoux* Than demons , creatures of the nights started attacking us out of no where destroying what little supplies we had left. A few among us stood up to the horde, but few survive me and my men are the only ones left.
Amoux looked at the man with a frown on his face. He couldn’t help, but feel sorry for the man and the village. He looked down a ashamed in himself for thinking that because he hadn’t had anything to eat in a day or so when these people barely had food for the children. He looked at the man in the eyes his expression and his eyes held something like a light something that gave the general hope for a better future. Amoux raised his hand and smiled* I Amoux swear to you that I will find a way to help this village cause everyone deserves to live and these kids need a future.* The general had tears in his eyes as he took Amoux's hand and nodded* Thank you so much, but how do you plan on helping?* Amoux frowned and looked around at each of the children that had gathered around them and nodded looking toward Morkanus.* First off to find those supply trains, than if I cant find them farming and hunting and quickly* He pointed to the men of the group* Get them out hunting deer and rabbits should do* He pointed to the women* Farming along with the children’s help.* He looked up at the sky with a nod as grey clouds covered the sky* Hurry we don’t have much time.
The villagers looked a bit stunned as this complete stranger was giving out orders. They looked toward their leader, who was standing proudly now hope now filled his eyes as he nodded toward his men with a smile on his face. He spoke and this time his voice was full of a fire not seen in anyone’s eyes in a long time it.* Amoux is right we need to work together and get this village back up and running and me and m men will put down our lives to make sure it happens* He nodded to Amoux who nodded back and spoke up* Three of your best men to come with me,* He paused and the leader looked at him curiously* We are going to find those supply trains and by the end of the day hopefully have some food to fill our tummies* The villagers cheered and three soldiers came forward nodding at Amoux as they waited to set out.*
Amoux nodded to the three men and than at the general who smiled and held out his hand to Amoux. Amoux smiled and took his hand* I promise I will find out what happen to the supply train and with all my power help you get this village back up and running.*Morkanus smiled and nodded than turned to the hunters and frowned taking on his role as leader he took over giving the orders out and sent the men out in teams of three toward the nearby woodlands. Amoux turned toward the soldiers that were to accompany him and looked them up and down with a slight frown. Their armor was silver and shone brightly in the sunlight. It was damaged in many places and they were each missing their helmets. They each carried a sword that looked in good repair. He nodded assuming their was a blacksmith nearby and made a mental note to go look when he had the chance. He looked at each, one had orange hair which was strange even in Amoux's eyes and one had long brown hair both looked like they were prepared for anything and would give their lives to protect this village.
Amoux looked the men over one more time and nodded to each man before he took off at a run. The two men frowned and quickly ran after him as Amoux seemed to gain speed as he ran leaving the two men behind trusting they would catch up as they ran. His body blurred and suddenly the black wolf was running in the elf's place. Amoux smiled as the wind blew past him his fur moved with the gentle breeze as he ran. He looked up at the sky and howled enjoy the freedom of his favorite form and how no matter where he went he was always free in this form the skys the limit as they would say. Amoux stopped after a hour and stood beside a small pond and looked at his reflect in the pond's surface as he waited for the two men to catch up. As he was waiting he thought back to his past. With a sigh and shook his head his eyes flashed and he could see fire burning in front of him or so he thought. He shook his head and the fire disappeared.
The two men finally caught up as the sun was lowering in the sky behind them. Amoux chuckled and admired there willpower to continued on even though they were exhausted and didn’t look as if they could run or walk another step. The two men fell to the ground breathing heavily as they quickly tried to regain their breath before Amoux started moving again. As they were recovering both were looking over Amoux's wolf form with a slight curiosity and maybe a bit of amazement. They had heard stories of people that could shift forms at will, but they never thought to see one in their lifetime or this close up it was like seeing a unicorn which at the time were endangered or a dragon without either losing something or dieing. Amoux watched them closely as he took a drink from the small pond. He smiled to himself and using a wing splashed them both which took both men by complete surprise. He splashed them again and smiled diving into the water causing a possible even bigger splash. The two men found themselves grinning as they pulled off their armor and their shirts and dived in after him and proceeded to splash each other till the sun was way below the horizon and the sky was filled with stars.
As the moon raised fully in the sky and the stars were sparkling from above down on the two men and Amoux as they laid staring up at the sky smiles playing on their face as the two men remembered times when the plains were covered in flowers and trees and creatures of all shapes and sizes. Some so beautiful that when their day looked bad they would see these creatures beauty and their days would be lifted. Amoux was deep in his own memories as he himself remembered playing along with his parents and his sisters. He remember all the things he had seen in his life and all his old dreams. Than a shadow crossed his face and he closed his eyes as he remembered the flames of that night where he watched his parents being slaughtered in front of his own eyes. He remembered how he heard the cry of his sisters in the air and the smell of blood and fire and smoke that filled the air. He shivered and shook his heads clearing the thoughts from his head and looked toward the two men curiously.
Amoux watch the men for a bit before moving to lay on his stomach. He brushed his hair out of his eyes and smiles at them* Hello my two friends and comrades I am curious to your names and if you don’t mind I would like to know more about you since I am intrusting my life in your hands.* The two men looked at each other before the man with bright orange hair spoke up.* I am Rubert and this is my friend Thomas.*Amoux nodded to each, but kept quiet letting them talk. Rubert spoke once more this time his face took on a more serious look* I was born and raised in that village ever since I was small I have had a dream of one day seeing that village become something great all of us have, but ever since the demon lords rise of power we have seen not but poverty and destruction and the looks on my family's face,* He paused and shivered as he closed his eyes with a grimace before continuing* It is like they have given up hope and it hurts me to think that my children and my loved ones wont be able to see a better future so thus my story is that I swear by my life that I will protect my village and my family to give them hope and hopefully someday a chance at a better life.
Amoux nodded at Rubert before turning to face Thomas and tilted his head curiously* And if i may be so bold what is your story.* Thomas held Amoux's eyes for a second before looking down* I have no story, but the one of the present I believe in the village and it's people as I believe in our leader* He paused and looked up at Amoux* As I believe in you now, you seem to mean well, but you hide a darker past, one that makes it where you don’t seem to trust those around you and thus your a loner* Amoux's eyes went wide and he just stared at the Thomas since he seemed to have read him perfectly. Thomas nodded seeing that he was right and went quiet as he closed his eyes and looked as if he had drifted off to sleep.
Amoux frowned and shook his head as his mind raced back to his past and flashes of other wolves and elves alike one in particular who looked almost like him flashed up before fading away slowly. He shivered and looked up at the sky as both Rubert and Thomas prepared to sleep laying their sleeping bags on the ground they drifted off to sleep. Amoux though continued to stay awake as he continued to look up at the sky his thoughts distant as he remembered a time when he and his family ran through lust green forest covered in the morning dew. A tear fell down from his eye as he remembered the fire and the smell of blood and once more the same wolf from before flashed in his thoughts and this time it didn’t fade. He shivered and closed his eyes as he remembered his past wishing with all his heart he could just erase that part of his past forever.
That night as Amoux curled up to sleep his thoughts raced images from his past and his present appeared and vanished as quickly as they appeared and as he stared up at the sky and attempted to sleep he wondered why everything seemed to happen to him and why it was his life filled with darkness and why this darkness seemed to over shadow everything he did and continuously haunt him even to this day. He closed his eyes and suddenly there was a flash of light and he was a young pup again. He was playing with another pup one slightly bigger than him who looked almost exactly like him except along his neck instead of star like sparkles there were what looked almost like diamonds and his eyes were brown instead of black. They were playing a favorite game of theirs throwing a ball of yarn between each other in a attempt to pass it into the others goal. Amoux smiled in his sleep as he could still the laughter and taunts of his brother in night air as he slowly drifted off into a deep sleep.
Amoux woke early the next morning as he looked up at the sky and noticed something he hadn’t seen in a long time. Gathering in the morning sky were clouds and not just any clouds, but dark storm clouds and they looked ready to bust. He stood up and smiled as he shouted to the two men nearby to wake up. Both Rubert and Thomas woke with a start to only see Amoux jumping like he was on fire. They looked at each worriedly than at him as he pointed toward the clouds in the sky. Both turned to the sky and smiles light up on their faces as they quickly gathered their gear and joined Amoux in watching the clouds.
Lighten skipped across the clouds and with a crackle thunder boomed across the plains. All three of them looked at each than the sky and turned toward the nearby forest knowing that was their best chance of finding shelter. Amoux started running first as his form blurred and his wolf form seemed to exploded out of him as he quickly gained ground toward the forest. The two men followed behind him as behind them it suddenly started to pour. They ran to the forest not stopping even to get a break as they were chased by the heavy downpour, they couldn’t help but smile for once in three years things were looking up. Amoux reached the covered of the treetops and skidded to a halt against a tree limb brushing his shoulder against it with a grunt. The two men followed quickly and skidded under the cover as the rain finally caught up with them and soaked the tree tops above them. Thunder once more crackled in the dark clouds and lightening skipped along in odd patterns in front of them. All they could do was watch with wide eyes at the strange light display.
They watched the lightening and the rain for a good half hour before the heavy rainfall started to lighten than stop. Thunder still crackled across the plains and the clouds didn’t seem to be going anywhere, but used this chance to pick up their gear and headed into the forest toward the supply train route hopeful to reach the main path and find some shelter before the rain started up again. lightening skipped behind them and all three of them jumped as a loud boom could be heard behind them, at the same time a snarl could be heard from the trees around them and red eyes shone through the mist that was slowly starting to set in. Amoux smelled them first and turned toward the trees hiss word pulled free of it's sheath and he held it ready. The other two reacted a bit slowly and barely had time to pull their swords from their own sheaths. Amoux's black blade gleamed in the misty light as he turned the black blade just in time as a sword made of scales clashed against his own. Not giving time to look at the attacker he turned his blade to the side and knocked the opponents’ blade aside and moved in close thrusting up toward the opponents’ chest.
Amoux heard a snicker as his blade was easily thrust aside and he felt a kick to his chest as he fell back against a nearby tree landing hard. He grimaced as his vision blurred some and he looked up at his opponent for the first time and all he could do was stare or there in front of him standing in the same battle position he had only taught to one other person on the planet. In front of him was none other than the same person he watched die in front of him so many years ago the very same person he looked up to since he was a kid. there standing in front of Amoux with a grin on his face was his brother.
He looked up at his brother with wide shocked eyes not sure what to say or do. His brother smirked and kneeled before Amoux getting into his face,*Well, well, well if it isn’t my long lost brother Amoux now what brings you out of the forest to this dead area.* Amoux shivered as he felt something darker in his brother and moved back a bit or at least attempted to* It is none of your concern beside your supposed to be dead i watched you,*His brother stopped him in his tracks and frowned* Watched me die you mean kill me in cold blood.*Amoux froze and looked into his brother eyes stuttering as he spoke now* I didn’t mean to I swear, you were attacking everyone I was trying to stop you from dong something you would regret*He was now pleading with his eyes. His brother made a face and kicked him hard into the tree.* I did what I had to at the time and you killed me for it I wont make you pay now, but when the time is right you will and you will suffer just like i have.*With that his brother turned and disappeared into the trees as Amoux sat holding his chest his eyes watering some as he watched the one person he had trusted who he himself had accidentally killed and than reborned to only now be his enemy walk away.
Amoux steadily climbed to his feet as he held his chest looking into the woods a bit stunned not really sure how he should react. After a while thunder crackled and he jumped as he looked around remembering the his two allies he moved back toward the path as he called out their names. A light drizzle started up and he looked toward the sky worriedly when he finally heard a shout in the wind. looking over he sighed with relief as he saw both men crouched over something in the distance. He ran toward them and skidded to a halt in the rain as he saw who they were standing over both their faces looked grim and he could easily see why.
Amoux was looking down at a beautiful, but gravely injured girl. She had long red hair that reach past her shoulders and was burnt along the edges. Along her body her green outfit that showed off her curves was ripped in several places and blood covered her legs. Smalls scratches were along her legs and her arms as if she had been attacked by some sort of small animal. He kneeled down and noticed faintly her chest was moving up and down as if she was breathing. He looked toward the other two and nodded as they quickly started to patch her up for the journey back to the village to get her some help. Amoux stood and looked behind her to see what was left of the supply train. They wagons were destroyed and most were still on fire some were covered in what looked like black vines. Rose bloomed along the vine some blood red the others black as night. With a sigh he moved among the wreckage as he noticed that not a single survivor or even a body could be seen. This and the fact he had just seen his brother here not too long ago bother him greatly. Turning he saw that Rubert was frowning at the wreckage. Amoux gave a sigh and smile gripping his shoulder, “Don’t give up my good friend for now get that girl to the village and we can think of what do next.
The two men helped lift the girl as Amoux looked up at the remains of the wagons and looked down as he followed his two friends back toward the village. They took it slower than before since they now carried weight. When they returned to the village the air actually seemed much brighter than before. Small kids were playing now as they rushed to greet the returning soldiers. One such kid a small girl whose eyes were brighter than anything he had ever seen even in places were hope was a thing seen everywhere by everyone. As they looked around the village stunned he saw adults rebuilding parts of the walls and the buildings that had collapsed in on themselves. Kids moved between the adults carrying what looked like buckets full of water, all of them were laughing.
Amoux smiled as he looked toward his two friends and nodded,*Bring the girl to go get some help I need to find our great commander* He grinned and set off into the village smiling at those around him. He saw as he walked among the buildings women and children and even some men were covered from head to foot in dirt and were by the looks of it celebrating as small shoots now showed from the ground. He smiled even wider as he neared the center of town and saw Morkanus standing among a group of men. They each held a bow and were by the looks of it dressed for hunting. Amoux came up behind them and listens as they detailed their hunting pattern for the day and where to find the best spot for hunting. When they were finished Morkanus clapped each of them on the shoulder and sent them out. He than turned and raised his eyebrows at Amoux chuckling lightly* So the great hero returns and what news have you brought me good news I hope.*Amoux frowned and looked down* I bring bad news the supply trains were destroyed when we got there burned to the ground and covered in vines by the looks of it.*Morkanus nodded and sighed* I guess it was too much to hope that they were just delayed.*Amoux nodded* Well we did find one thing that might interest you*
Morkanus looked at Amoux curiously* Oh my good friend what may that be other than the fact that it seems you’ve been in a fight.* Amoux chuckled and smiled* Yes well we got ambushed at the supply site by a group of people that was lead by someone I have heard of, but never seen up close till recently.*Amoux sighed inwardly as the person was his brother he just hopped Morkanus couldn’t see past his bluff. Morkanus raised a eyebrow and nodded* Well than lead the way and please tell me what is so interesting that I would be interested in it.* Amoux smiled and headed toward the medical tent* Well let see we found a girl and a very beautiful one at that.* Morkanus stopped and looked down at Amoux* A girl you say well glad to see the trip wasn’t a complete waste. I assume this girl might hold answers or you wouldn’t have come to me while I was busy to tell me this.* Amoux nodded* Yes well I believe this girl may be the key to finding out who is attacking your village and taking out the supply trains.* Morkanus looked at him as he followed him* And why is that* Amoux shrugged* She was at the site of the ruined supply trains when we found her and if she doesn’t know anything she could possible provide us information about outside the plains.
Morkanus nodded and followed Amoux to the medical building which being one of the most important building had been repaired first and people both men and women moved through the halls. Some in a hurry some taking their time. Amoux moved toward the back where the girl was laying her red hair laid in a ponytail the nurse had done so the doctors could check for any head injuries. While the doctors weren’t as good as the ones in big cities they were skilled in battle injuries as well as head cases as the village called those who had gotten themselves smacked in the head. Morkanus studied the girl curiously.* Well she certainly is pretty, but how long has she been in this state?* Amoux shrugged and looked around for the doctor* I am not sure and the doctor seems to be on break.
Morkanus looked around sourly* Go figure when we need a doctor they are gone and when we don't need one they don't know hot to go away.* He gave a sigh and looked outside before turning to Amoux* Watch her for me please I know I have no command over you and we already owe you so much as it is, but please watch her she may be important.*Amoux smiled* Don't worry about it you don't owe me anything i was proud to help such a fine man and such a wonderful village.* Morkanus smiled before bowing his head and stepping outside as nurses stared after him admiring him from a distance. Amoux chuckled to himself and took a seat as he waited for the doctor to return. Meanwhile the girl who at the moment appeared completely out was actually far from that. Her name was Rose and with a slight smirk to herself she waited for the right time to awaken from her sleepless slumber.
Rose continued to wait a bit impatient now as the doctor finally arrived back from break. Amoux looked toward the man and waved giving a bit of a smile.* So doc what is the news on our young charge that I so happen to find here?* The doctor shook his head. He had been working all day today and for the last several days since the rains to keep the villagers alive and well and this stranger was acting like everything was okay. He never understood why their leader let him do as he pleased or for that matter even stay here. It aggravated him that this man was supposed to save their villages when they could do it on their own from a stranger none of them even knew. Amoux’s smile slipped a bit as he watched the doctor who had given him a look of disgust somewhat and blinked confused. He knew he was a stranger, but he was only trying to be helpful. He looked at the girl than the doctor again with the question on his lips again.
The doctor grunted and waved the question away mumbling she will be fine before turning and heading to see another patient. Amoux looked after the man and looked down a bit worried. Giving a aggravated sigh he stepped outside and watched a group of nearby kids move what looked like buckets of rain water through the street and smiled as they for once seemed to have hope in their faces. As he continued watching the kids he heard a shout and something that sounded like something slammed into a wall. Turning Amoux looked at the villages wall as he saw flames dancing along the edge as the ground shook again and something else slammed into the wall again. Cracks formed along the wall as Amoux growled and smelled something like the demon he had seen in the village from before. Drawing his sword he dodged among the screaming people and climbed to the top of the wall as quickly as possible as he sat watching the chaos below him. A distance from the village two catapults had been set up and the demons like creatures were throwing balls of what looked like fire at the walls attempting to take them down. With a growl he dodged out of the way and rolled onto the ground just barely avoiding another fire ball aimed at him this time.
Amoux growled as he quickly recovered and peeked over the wall to only duck back under as a arrow narrowly misses him and imbeds itself into the wood where he face was. Shaking his head a bit dazed he pulled the arrow from the wood and frown as he noticed the design was made of a wood not found in this area or at least he hasn’t seen in this area. His frown deepened when he heard a scream and a hiss coming from the other side of the wall. The scream was heard again a she jumped up and ducking under arrows fired at him he jumped off the wall and shifted to his much faster and easier form his wolf form. Moving his feet faster than he has ever he moved through the village watching people move back and forth attempting to keep the children from panicking. One look on the kids faces he stopped in the middle of the street and blinked* they were brave for not freaking out, but they were scared really scared. He shook his head and looked back toward the fire before he heard the scream again from the other side of the village now. He had to end this quickly before anyone else got hurt. Giving a howl he winked at the kids and bound through the village his body a blur as he jumped over Morkanus and his men fighting along the walls to keep the creatures back. As he landed he rolled and shifted to his elf form his blade already out as it’s black blade hit another blade and a creature standing a bit bigger than him screeched and drove his sword toward him in fury. Amoux ducked under it and slashed out with his blade catching the creature in it’s side before kicking it hard into the ground and finishing it by driving his blade into the creatures skull hard. With the creatures blood now covering his sword and soaking the ground Amoux stopped long enough to identify the demon as a shifter. They were dark creatures, they mostly only existed in legend he had no idea how this thing even came to be. They were driven by a wraith older than time and constantly fought. To go to battle with one was truly a nightmare to a normal and Amoux wasn’t surprised at all that the people of the village were having a hard time trying to keep them away from the walls and fight off the catapults. He ducked as he heard a arrow pierce through the air and narrowly moved just out of the way to where the arrow drove itself into his shoulder. He grunted with pain and hide behind a large boulder as he peeked over and spotted the archer. Much like the shifter this one had horns and had a more definite form. He was standing back as most cowards do safely behind their lines shooting those in distance. Amoux mumbled to himself and ducked back behind the boulder as another arrow was fired his way. While sitting there his thoughts whirled and returned to the kids in the village. With a determined look he rolled from his cover and ran straight through the enemy line not even bothering to pay attention to anything else around him. He knew the only way to win the battle was to take out the archer and the two catapults as soon as possible or else they would be forced back behind the line. He knew battle well thanks to his family and knew a enemy would never expect a direct charge through their front lines as he was attempting to do. He sliced through anyone in his way as blood quickly covered him and his cloths. He didn’t really care at this point as he barely dodged around a particular large enemy and stabbed his sword through the things chest before pulling back and racing back toward the archer.
The archer watched the incoming creature from his post at the top. His allies around him raced to defend him as Amoux tore through them as if they were paper. He shot arrow after arrow at him, but while they hit him all they served to do was seem to make him angrier as Amoux finally cut through the last battlement left in place to defend him from attacks. Amoux smiled somewhat as he raised his blood covered sword and brought it down hard straight through the archer. The archer stared up into Amoux’s eyes and smirked as he screeched something and fell to the ground a half crazed smile on his face as he closed his eyes and died. Amoux frowned and stood in place his own blood mixing with his enemies blood around him as he wondered why in his dieing hour the creature was laughing. He shivered and felt a chill go down his back as he picked up his sword and looked toward the catapults curiously.
With a growl a shifter moved to stand before Amoux his blood crusted sword raised as he swung it down. Amoux moved to block the sword with his own as his black blade meet the creatures blade in a fury of sparks. They sat there, their swords locked in place as their eyes meet and Amoux attempted to push the shifter back. The creature gave a evil sort of chuckle and held his ground as he pushed Amoux’s blade down. Amoux growled as he felt his feet start to slip and put his full strength into pushing back. Their blades sent sparks into the air as the battle around them seemed to come to a halt as the demons were finally losing ground with their ace in the hole the archer dead, the men of the village had finally found their foothold and were using it to push them back. Smoke filled the sky and thunder flashed in the distance as the catapults fired another round and the fiery balls whistled through the air hitting the wall again. The cries of children could be heard even in the noise of the battleground. Amoux whose strength was starting to fail heard the cries and looked toward the village as he watched the children scream encouragements to the men in the battle. A little girl looked at him with a glint of hope in her eyes and yet fear. Amoux heard another whistle as the catapults launched another right at the children. The girl and the others looked toward the ball with fear in their eyes, the battle around them froze as the men and the demons stood watching waiting to see. The children stood their ground still shouting encouragement even as the ball was about to hit them. Amoux growled and his body filled with a strange light as what looked like darkness seeped from his body and his eyes were now darker than the night. With a howl of fury Amoux tore through the shifters sword and through the creature who could only look in horror as he gave a shriek and fell to the ground in pieces. With the darkness starting to cover Amoux he rushed toward the children anyone who got in his way fell to his sword. He didn’t any pain at this point as swords and spears pierced his body and his blood mixed with those whose blood already covered the plains. The children seeing that the battle was turning quickly scrambled out of the way of the incoming ball of fire, but the small girl sat watching Amoux as moved closer. He yelled for her to move, but it was too late as the ball hit the wall shattering the one side as flames licked at the buildings. Amoux stopped in place and stared completely shocked ignoring the roar of the demons as they celebrated what they believed to be a victory. But a rumble could be heard from the ruined wreckage of the wall as debris was scattered everywhere a girl rose from the rumble her eyes bright amber yet so full of power it was shocking. Rose smirked as she stood in the middle of the ruined wall holding the small girl in her hands. Everything was going just as her master had planned. She let the girl down gently and the small girl smiled at her before running off to join the other children who surrounded her asking her question as soon as she reached them. Rose nodded to Amoux and jumped down escorting the children out of the area to safety. Amoux sighed with relief as the dark power from before disappeared from around him. Shaking his head he turned to the retreating demons and raised his sword above his head holding strong even with his injuries which were now coming back to haunt him as he called out.* I am Amoux protector of this village and your doom be warned next time you come around I will slaughter you all without a second glance.* The demons hissed and showed their claws at his challenge as they withdrew back across the plains for the moment.
Amoux sighed as he fell to the ground holding his sword arm as he realized that while he had lost control of himself and his powers the demon’s had done more damage to him than he had felt. Giving a sighed he rose to his feet and using his sword as a crotch he moved through the battle ground silently checking each body he found whether demon or human, just checking for any sign of life. By the time the sun had started to sink in the sky Amoux was at the point the could barely stand as he headed toward the village. Rose up at the battlements watched Amoux silently but while she admired his bravery for still being able to stand she was disgusted in the fact that he had done so much damage to even such a small part of her master’s army so easily. With a shake of her head to clear it cause the children were now looking at her as if something was wrong she cleared her head and remembered her objective. Turning to the kids she smiled sweetly,*Well children shall we start helping the wounded?*The children all shook their head and headed toward the doctors hut to see what they could do. The only child left standing there was the small girl from before who was watching Amoux move slowly toward the village as quickly as possible. His face blank as he did his best to hide the pain though anyone who could see him could easily see that he was in great pain. His cloths were in ruins and his blood poured down his body mixing with that of so many demons he had slayed that laid on the battleground. He made it half way toward the village and the girl gasped as his eye went blank and he fell to the ground
