Rose and Dragon: Re-uniting in Green Shade
((a collaborated entry from Rose and Dragon))
"Hey, Dragon!" Rose exclaimed, and, blushing as she realized that it was more than Dragon there, and that that seemed like quite an odd name for a person, she added over her shoulder to Kyrre, Trella and Sahm, "This is my guardian, Dragon! Her name is very descriptive of her... personality."
Dragon nodded serenly and said, "Greetings, sai female kitsune and sai male kitsunes."
The kitsunes all looked at Dragon with intense curiousity plain on their faces. Trella seemed to be a little put out- like she didn't trust something about this dragon-like woman. Sahm looked at her with open wonder, and Kyrre just raised one eyebrow. Then he held out his hand.
"Kyrre, Den Leader of Fifth Leaf." he said only a little formally. "This is Speaker Sahm, and Shaman Trella. We are pleased to meet family of Princess Rose's that would suppport her here."
Taking Kyrre's hand, Dragon bowed. "It is an honor to be here, Sais Kyyre, Sahm, and Trella."
Flan tapped Dragon on the shoulder and signed something.
Turning back to Kyrre, Dragon said, "My friend here says that the body of the kitsune we brought back smells of your clan. Perhaps he was a friend?"
Kyrre frowned slightly, and became suspicious as Sahm stepped forward.
"We thank you, Dragon. We have... lost kitsunes to those demons. He might be one of ours."
Sahm said, looking pointedly to Kyrre as he said it, and flashed a few kitsune handsignals to him during the process.
Kyrre's eyes widened slightly as Sahm's hands had flashed him the news. If this was true, these people had done most of his job for him. "We would... like a chance to identify him, then, to give him a proper sending." Kyrre replied to Dragon, bowing his head in thanks and respect.
Dragon snapped her fingers and Nogard and Xangord left the main room to retrieve the body.
When they returned with something wrapped in a black shroud and laid it on a table, Dragon said apologetically as she gently removed the shroud from the kitsune's face, "We unfortunately did not have something better to carry him in."
Kyrre nodded as the face of Grewin was revealed. "He was of our Den. I believe... he fought that day... to protect Princess Rose. Before her title was known. He was loyal, and will be missed."
Sahm signed something to Kyrre, who nodded. Sahm ran off without a word.
"We will make preparations to... send him, this evening." Kyrre explained.
As she and the rest of the Dynasty clasped their hands and bowed their heads, Dragon said, "You have our condolances. If it eases your pain any better, we found several slain demons about him."
Kyrre nodded silently, and while he seemed pleased by this, something seemed to trouble him still. Almost inaudibly, he muttered "Regg.", a bitterness to his voice.
Flan arched an eyebrow, but left her hands clasped in front of her.
Rose sighed. Always, there was so much drama. She wanted depserately to talk to Dragon candidly. That did not seem likely anytime soon. She settled for remembering what she had come to ask Dragon in the first place- which actually answered Dragon's question about how it was going.
"Well, anyways, Dragon, they, um, decided I was a Princess. The only thing left is pretty much an open debate. I'm allowed to have two people speak for me- but I won't be allowed to defend my right to the throne." She paused. "I'd like you and Kyrre to speak for me, if you would?"
"It would be an honor, Princess," Dragon said, bowing. Turning to those with Rose, she asked, "May I ask what the opposition is like?"
Rose smiled in thanks, almost wanting to bounce with excitement... except that Princesses probably didn't bounce.
Kyrre frowned, his forehead creasing and his ears leaned back a little, not unlike a cat when they get angry. "Estefan." he said curtly, baring his fangs slightly when he spoke. "He's a Duke, and next in line besides the Princess. He's... unscrupulous. You saw the demons, you fought with them. We suspect he's been making deals with them for years, now. Those, and other demons in South Gaia. He is... well, he would be the end of our culture and our way of life, but the Council sees only what he wants them to, and they think he will bring kitsunes into the modern era."
Dragon's eyes flashed* at mention of Estefan making deals with the slaver demons. "Indeed? I hope you will excuse me, but I would like to take over the Princesses protection. I mean no disrespect to you or yours, sai Kyrre, but I trust me and mine with the proper protection of the princess."
Trella and Kyrre both seemed displeased suddenly. Kyrre was shaking his head, and Trella was staring at Dragon, an unspoken accusation in her eyes. Trella began to tug at Kyrre's shirt, begging his attention. But Kyrre shrugged her off for now.
"I... I don't believe protocol allows for this, Dragon. As the Fifth Leaf Den Spoke for her safety and security, we are responsible..." Kyrre trailed off.
He trailed off because Rose had turned to glare at him slightly.
"But I suppose that... if she were to wish to remain in these quarters with you, until the Final Test tomorrow morning, it would be fine. We will guard this apartment for you from the outside." Kyrre agreed, though he was watching Rose's face the entire time.
Rose smiled. "Thanks, Kyrre." she said, happy, but just now realizing that maybe she didn't want to be alone with Dragon. If she had, indeed, gone to take care of the demons... She didn't want to think about all that, now.
Xangord elbowed Dragon in the side and whispered in her ear. Dragon nodded. "Very well." Locking eyes with Trella for a split second, Dragon looked back at Kyrre, "It is just that I have had a hand in raising the Princess from a cub and am overly protective of her. You will have to forgive me for any rudeness I may have shown."
"Quite understandable, Dragon." Kyrre said, a tone of protectiveness in his voice. "And you have been nothing but cordial, I assure you. We owe you much as it stands." he said.
Kyrre turned to face Rose directly. "Highness. We will be outside if you should need us." He bowed from the waist, hand over heart, and backed up two paces before withdrawing. Trella bowed her head, backed up with him, and turned and left right behind him, sparing one backward glance for Dragon before she closed the door behind her.
