Kyrre, and the Last Hours of the Final Trial
After realizing that the Council still needed to finish the trial, Kyrre spoke quickly to Dragon.
"Because of the Princess' non-traditional heritage, the Council must feel they have to follow all the rules. I don't blame them for trying. We've only got a few more hours before sunset, thankfully. If they ask about what just happened... everything still must be the truth."
And as everyone settled, a line grew from behind the Speaking podium again. The Council gestured for the questions to begin, and the first one was quite blunt.
"What just happened?"
Kyrre closed his eyes and heaved a big sigh.
"The short version is that Estefan, former Lord of the Silver River Den, has been declared a traitor and found guilty by the Council of attempted regicide."
The whole crowd muttered, and Kyrre had a bad feeling about it, when the next kitsune stood on the Speaking Spot.
"And the long story is what? Tell us all what we missed."
Kyrre looked at Dragon, and then told all he knew of it. He hoped if he'd missed anything, Dragon would speak up.
Finally, the kitsune questionier nodded and left the podium. The next stood up. Asked a mundane question, to which Kyrre had a simple answer. It went on like that for a few more minutes. Suddenly, Kyrre saw someone slip into the audience that he hadn't expected. The color drained from his face, as he looked upon Regg, the member of Estefan's group that had been undercover in the Fifth Leaf Den for years. He had been undiscernable, until he led Princess Rose to the demons, and handed her over. Now, Kyrre had trouble concentrating on anything other than the now blue-haired kitsune.
"Okay, I'll ask again. Why would we trust Princess Rose not to betray us, when she expects us to believe you about our dear Lord Estefan, and his suppposed treason?"
Regg must have felt Kyrre's eyes on him, and he returned a very self-satisfied little smirk. Somehow, the kitsune must have still felt that he had a few tricks up his sleeve. Kyrre completely forgot to answer the question. Dragon must have, as the kitsune moved off temporarily.
Regg suddenly got up, and moved. He walked down the large middle isle, and gently pushed his way to the front of the line.
Still smirking, Regg asked what he could only assume was a most damning question. After all, if Princess Rose did not pass this test, she would not be crowned.
"If the Princess is part angel and fairy, doesn't that make her immortal? Wouldn't her rein become more of an endless tyranny and oppression?"
Kyrre just growled under his breath at the kitsune. He understood the question, and the suspicion it was meant to raise. But he just wanted to tear the kitsune from limb to limb.
