Unfinished
I have shaded the windows to my soul
with the darkest death of night
so that you can not peer inside
and see my raw, blood red pain.
I have welded shut the single doorway
that was your only access to my
deepest freedoms and imaginations
so that I can resist
the throbbing temptation to open wide
and welcome you to my solitude.
My silent and dark security
where I rehearse and read aloud
from the beaten and well worn pages
of the script of my life.
