So~ I was browsing through UrbanDictionary.com and decided it would be fun to see what came up for "England." As I thought, most of it was bashing on false stereotypes, but whatever. I didn't really care. But there was one that really ticked me off.
Basically it went "Without England, the Allies would have won the war in 15 seconds."
NOW. I'M GOING TO RANT.
First off, without England, the Allies would have gotten their asses handed to them on a silver platter. Not because England was the best or anything, but simply because America most likely would have joined the Axis Powers had England not been knee deep in trouble! Why? Many Americans had strong Germanic or Italian ties and did not want to fight where their ancestors or even they themselves came from! Not to mention Asians had been coming to America too. In fact, many still felt awkward towards England and didn't think England even wanted their help--plus I'm positive they felt "HELL YEA! WE KICKED YOUR BRITISH a** IN THE REVOLUTION!"
Second off, the Zimmerman Telegram. Had it been fake or real, ENGLAND was the one that relayed the message to America. That was one of the main things that got America to join the Allies, right? Not that Mexico was that big of a threat really. I mean really? :/ Little old Mexican Army against the USA? YEA...It would be a minor annoyance in my opinion.
Thirdly, even though a lot of Americans had German and Italian ancestry, a lot of them had English ties too! Sure, Russia was there but...I don't think the Cold War would have been as cold afterwards. And there weren't really a lot of Russians in America right? I mean, I don't really know how many were. I know there were lots of immigrants from all over Europe, but more were from Eastern, Southern, and Central Europe than Western and Northern Europe.
Let's not exclude Japan. Japan's bombing on Pearl Harbor was a HUGE deciding factor, like, we basically joined the next day. I'm not saying they wouldn't have done it, but I'm not saying they definitely would have either. Obviously if America joined the Axis, Japan wouldn't have bombed. Maybe if America had just MADE UP HIS MIND SOONER...Eh well...like I said. Without England, the Axis Powers were looking mighty fine with America.
And an other thing! Even though England had been getting the beating of his lifetime, he still managed to fight when America got there! I mean, yea, sure English soldiers lacked a lot of enthusiasm now and just wanted to go home, but when the Americans got there, they really were heroes! Then America and England pretty much freaking owned after that. They tag-teamed and pretty much took back everything and won it for the Allies.
SO...YEA...I-it was just my opinions on the matter. If England wasn't involved with the Allies, then the Allies would have lost on the idea that America wouldn't even join.
...okay...I'm done ranting...
