Today was by far the weirdested day in a long time.
Really.
Ok. so, it was raining all day yesterday and also this morning a bit. I have to carry my kids to the van to put them in to take their big sis to school. (explaination: big sis is in 3rd grade. Little ones are 4 and 6; the 6yr old goes to afternoon kindergarten. neither one gets dressed early in the morning. hence, no shoes, hence, carry kids to van)
Took oldest to school, and come back only to find bus for the disabled one to go to school is already here. twenty five mins early. And he isn't ready. So, hurriedly got him ready, and got him to the bus. It was not even drizzling anymore by this time.
Made phone calls to places for things I had to take care of. Got little guy ready for kindergarten. Grandma came over early and brought breakfast! I think that was the highlight of my day. Coffee and sourdough breakfast burger from Carl's Jr. (if you don't know Carl's Jr, I pity you. Strangely, it is run by the same people as Hardees (you can tell; they both have the same star) but Hardees is horrible, where as Carl's is better than Mc'Ds or Burger King.) Anywho... oh, and there was a bad car crash sometime just before Grandma stopped by with the food only a block away (diagonal) from where I live. I can still see the tire track in the mud on the sidewalk-planter.
Made one more call, trying to get an address for the Social security office local to me. Finally got a real person at about the same time i should be getting ready to take kindergardner to school. Finished the call, and raced up there. Walked as fast as possible while still avoiding the mud. The teacher was already leading the kids in the door when i got there. The door closed behind him seconds before we got there. I opened it, nudged my little man in, and, for once, he didn't balk at getting just "one more" hug and kiss from mom. I dont think the teacher even saw that he had made it in the door late. Yay for little kids being distracting... i think.
Ok. so; phew! i thought. It was 11:40. Went back home with my baby girl, grabbed the directions for SS office, and left. Thought it would be an hour.
Nope.
I hate paperwork, and i really wont get into the utterly frustrating details of dealing with some of the issues that are fun specifically for me to deal with. But they were present. So, on top of the waiting (with a 4 yr old, this is always a fun process. even with a timid 4 yr old it can be excrutiating)(mine is timid) we still didnt get out of there until 2:40. Now let me interject upon myself here, and give you some more background on the SS office. It must be made of metal; no one can get a cell-phone signal in there.
As soon as I get out of that building, my phone starts going insane, trying to tell me that i had four missed calls, a text message, and an incoming call all at once. Trying to shift my paperwork in my hands about while digging in my coat pocket for that damn little vibrating phone, i missed the call. But I checked, and grandma (my mom) had just called. So i called her first, while letting my four yr old drag me to the van because she really wanted to go home already. Mom said that the bus yard had called her. So i called them. It seems that the bus driver, having had two less passengers than usual, had gotten to my house with my son at 2:30. All I could say was that I was on my way and it would be 15 min.
So as i'm speeding home to try to get there before they get mad at me (you dont want an entire bus yard mad at you!), I notice my brakes, which had been softly squeeling for weeks, are now grinding softly. Wonderful.
Anyways.
I get home, grab my son off the bus and apologize (the lady at the bus yard had sounded ticked off). The bus driver, however, is fine with it. turns out she didn't want to lose 45 min off her time (she usually gets to my house at 3:10; she was 40min early). So all that worry for nothing.
I put my son straight from the bus to my van, and we hurried to go get the other two kids. They both get out at 3. It is 3:05 when i pulled up. Then i had to get the wheelchari back out and everything and go walk and get the kids... who arent waiting where i;ve told them to wait, because they were worried. Eurgh! I explained that their brother was early, and i had to get him first. This, they understood. But still! I re-explained where they were supposed to wait for me.
Anywho... we went home.
The next hour was a blur of helping with homework, taking care of my disabled son, and poll-whoring on gaia for about 3 min. Then the natives began getting restless. So i tried a ruse I've learned lately works well. Play kingdom hearts, and they like to watch. I get fun and relaxation, and they are happy, too. *Insert angelic harmony here*
Then I had to get hubby from work. fun.
He got paid, so we went to the bank to deposit it. Then went to AutoZone to buy new brake pads... which he is currently still installing.
Got home at about 6:25. Dinner? dinner??? Answer? Del Taco. Also another one of California's blessings. So i went and grabbed some. you cant beat it; under $20 fed 6 people and they were happy. Anyways, on the ride home from getting the Del Taco (before we got home with it), I was totally zonked. This has been a long day. And one of the kids who had tagged along for the ride (they seem to like to do this) was trying to ask questions that i was trying to answer. something like what is illegal, or something like that. ya, i think it was that. Well, I was distracted. I stopped at a red light at the next intersection and continued talking to my kids. Seeing no one coming from either way, I proceeded to cross the intersection. (note, the RED LIGHT was still RED) eek
oiy
there is more... little bits i've already forgotten... ant raids in the kitchen, Grandma having bunco tonight, my sister's car's head cracking (its a mercedes)...
ya.
Ok.
i want to go to bed now, ok? ok.
nite nite.
*hopes march will be better*
