"No please say you didn't just do what you just said you did. Please god Shu Yin please say this is a sick joke that your being mean." Adara was in tears, no, she was hysterical. She was punching and slapping him, her punches did no damage, her slaps stun a little but it was her face and words that was killing her older brother. He knew what he was doing would hurt her as they lost their parents to the war, and now he was going. She wasn't barely 15 he was 21. He didn't want to do it, but it was literally his last resort as escort or dancing was simply not an option. The economy was s**t but he gave it his best. Now he was going to loose his sister if he didn't do something desperate so he did. He went into the military and what was worse, he was going to fly. That's how daddy was lost. Mama was lost as she was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"Adara, I'm sorry but it's the only thing I could think of to keep you out of the system." Then it came, the only good punch his sister ever had. A right hook connecting to his left eye making him fall on his a** more out of surprise then anything. "Dar?" he looked it wasn't hate just pain. "I DON'T GIVE A s**t ABOUT THE SYSTEM! 2 YEARS! 2 EASY YEARS AND I WOULD BE OUT YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE AT LEAST FOUR" holding up four fingers in his face "AND IN THOSE FOUR" shaking her fingers in his face "DO YOU HAVE A CHANCE DO DIE?! YES!" "Dar! you have a chance of dying right no-" SMACK "I'M NOT DONE YELLING AT YOU! YOU'LL HAVE YOUR CHANCE TO TRY AND TALK TO MY DOOR WHEN I'M DONE! MAMA AND DADDY DIED DOING THIS! DAD WITH THE PLANE AND YOUR GOING UP IN THE AIR!"

The once sided and physically one sided fight went on for hours. Shu Yin unfortunately knew this was coming but the punch was a pleasant surprise. Maybe, just maybe, she'll be okay without him on this endeavor. And in the end he was looking at her door trying to talk to it as she was in the bathroom crying in a hot bath. He just quietly left leaving a special note behind. Hesitating at the door "The worst part I didn't get to tell you. I ship out tonight....I love you Adara Zsofia Agate-Yoh." he looked down trying to keep the tears back as he looked at his favorite picture of her. It was sunny she was sitting on the ground her legs slightly spread hand between her bent knees holding some purple flowers. She was in a white sundress and a big straw wide brimmed hat. She looked like a southern belle of sorts with her big beautiful grin and her eyes just sparkling. "Good bye my sweet baby sister." Hoping his nickname of 'Fox' would hold up. He would need all the cleverness and luck he could get with what he chose. Turning he disappeared into the night wondering if he would ever see her again.

Days went into weeks, weeks into months and well...you know the rest. The first year Adara had barely passed school as she went into a serious depression. The spring though someone introduced her to volleyball and she was surprisingly good at it. She didn't care why but she was. Adara realized she would have to be strong but that summer she was anything but strong. She got pasty white as she never left her brother's room but to eat or talked to anyone. Unfortunately for what he did, Shu Yin never was able to call home, or get on the computer like others and say he was okay.

Once a soldier came to her house and sent her in a fit of hysterics as she thought it was the one to come to tell her that her brother was gone. Was Heero flustered as hell when he saw her eyes go wide and tears come pouring out when she saw him. Finally he grabbed her in a tight hug and started calming her down. Eventually he sat her down and explained that Shu couldn't call because he was always flying and doing top secret missions. However he did tell her the boat he was on so she could keep tabs on him. Eventually, after telling her how badly he got razed for getting beaten up by a girl, and after telling her how he beat up so many guys that commented on her picture, Heero left.

Adara saw there was a letter left behind and picked it up ready to run after Heero but she saw the name was hers on the envelope.

I know you, you would have raped him for more talk time. He has his own family but was kind enough to do this favor for me. He told you, hopefully if you didn't scare him away with your tears, my boat. That's the best I can do I'm sorry. I love you so much and miss you dearly my baby sister. You better be staying out of my room. But I know you better then that so at least change my sheets every so often. the pillow cases in the bottom drawers...all the drawers in my dresser I slept on and didn't wash so you could smell me for a long time. I've known about this for a while but knew best not to tell you till it was time. So I quietly made preparations so you could survive without me for a while. I don't know about four years but for a while. Your bank account, as long as you don't turn into a valley girl, will always have money in it so you can do what you need. I'm guessing you figured it out by now. Heero will check in on you from time to time. Don't sing his name, he gets mad. He's not nicknamed 'grumpy old man' for nothing. Seriously. Sad huh? Call him 'Wolf' he likes that. Seriously. If his friend comes. DO. NOT. RAPE. HIM. You'll understand, as I call him Atlas or his nick name is 'Liger'. Yeah we're so original huh? Naming ourselves after animals. Sorry we all can't be as creative as you and have cool nicknames.....'kitten'. Anyways I miss you and when Heero goes home he'll bring you stuff.

That was the last she heard of her brother. Heero did come by but with no news, it bothered her. He said he was just checking up on her. The friend came but she was too upset to notice that he was simply plucked from every dream she had and put into a reality. She really wouldn't be able to handle the fact that he was the man of her dreams and in the military. Don't get her wrong. She has HIGH respect for the military but she is no military wife. She's simply not strong enough.

One day she slowly walked to the computer, as if in a horror movie and it was the excruciating long walk to where ever the girl is supposed to go but dragging the should be 5 second walk to 5 minutes. Sitting at the CPU she looked up the boat. Her eyes went wide then she slumped to the ground.

"The Missouri has been hit, and sunk, no survivors." That's all she got out when she realized she was the last Yoh left. Falling to the ground she was out cold. From that moment on she was a simple shell of her former self. Her eyes, her sparkling amethyst eyes were dull dull dull plumish coloured. her hair even drooped as she fell into a depression that she probably wouldn't survive.

Come 18 years old no one would talk to Adara nor hang out with her. It was pointless. No one but Wolf and Liger. They may not have a reason to stick around but they did as they knew she needed something, even if its just a moment of some company. They could see a little difference when they were around her. She just seemed to sit a little closer to them or something. They didn't know but they were trying to keep her happy or comfortable. Heero already mourned the loss of a dear friend that he silently yearned to know more about. While Trowa knew that the love of his life was dying and he couldn't do anything about it. He fell madly in love with Adara, who never knew it.

"Sardines....we're all ******** Sardines" one of the goths, who coincidentally had started hanging out with Adara. The goth girl found Adara comforting in some way. a silent friend that she didn't have to worry about judging? Who knows, but in some way Adara clung to the girl silently and followed her around like a puppy dog. The girl did do Adara's eyes up black but that was it, she never made Adara do anything dumb. But now they both were being herded like the rest of the school to the gym for a pep rally talking about Prom and the Candidates for Queen and King.

Taking their seats with the seniors the two just looked on, the goth funnily enough called Daisy, was not amused by it and was chatting quietly to Adara telling all kinds of funny jokes, trying to get Adara to crack a smile but not even a smirk crossed the dull girl's mouth. Adara watched in silence as the cheerleaders did their little routine trying to catch the eye of the football team, the football team being meat heads and then the faculty just being themselves.

Just as Adara had a though of slitting her wrists her eyes went wide and tears poured from her eyes, black racing down her cheeks. Here eyes looked like diamonds again as there was fire, her hair sprung up as her mouth dropped while she stood slowly. There was her brother. In one piece, walking, smiling and opening his arms for her. "SHU YIN!" everyone stopped and looked at her. The mute spoke. She raced down the bleachers in her volleyball shorts and a tank top, she had no idea what she wore anymore. she had two coloured tennis shoes one along with a long black dress sock with a short sporty white sock. Everyone started moving and understood now what was going on.

Racing across the gym she leaped into her brother's arms and wrapped her legs around his waist crying on his shoulder getting mascara and eyeliner everywhere. Snot was starting to come out as she drooled but they didn't care. They were reunited. Shu Yin buried his face in her hair and inhaled deeply as she did the same but to his neck. Holding her so tightly he rocked back and forth bursting into tears clutching onto her as if the moment was going to disappear and it would be all a nightmare that she was dead or wasn't really there. He hurt. Bad but he never really felt it. His world was saved in that moment. He was home, safe, with his baby sister, nothing could go wrong.

And nothing did. Going home, carrying his crying sister who snoted, drooled, dyed him black, and squeezed the hell out of his broken ribs with her legs, Shu Yin was so thankful to be alive. When they cleaned up which she didn't even leave him for that. AWWWKWARD! They sat down on the couch. "Yes we sunk, there were no survivors other then me. I almost didn't but they took me as a POW. You know, most say that they rather be dead then be in those camps? Not me, I know that if I lasted long enough then I could come home." He smiled and moved a wet strand of hair out of her face. "I just happened to live up to my name and when I was rescued I handed over all the intel that I somehow was able to steal. You met Liger right? Well he taught me a trick. He always has a knife in his throat" She blinked a bit wildly at that "It doesn't hurt him. anyways, he taught me how to do that, but you know what? Coughing up whole files isn't very comfortable." he smirked and let her imagination go wild on that. "Shu?" "worse." then her eyes went wide "Yep that's how it went. So I was able to help end the war, and I get to stay home now. I am honorably discharged in a week. I have to get the metal of honor first then I'm a civi!" she shook and hugged him as he just gave her a gift no money could ever buy. She got her brother back.

"Wait." "Hm?" He looked down at her but shook his head "He's career military Adara." she then quietly snuggled in and pushed Trowa out of her mind. She wouldn't be able to handle it and they both knew it. But she knew he was happy and he knew he wanted to stay.

"You know" with a heavy heart and tears streaming down his face Shu Yin looked at Trowa "She did love you. Very much. But she wouldn't have been able to handle the Military Wife thing." "I know..." but he wasn't going to apologize for what he was. "She said she was proud of you in her final days." That was the last that Shu Yin said of the subject, instead he knelt down crying putting Birds of Paradise flowers on Adara's grave. She only lasted two years after Shu Yin's return. Her body shut down too much as she really thought she lost him in high school so her body was setting up for death as she was going to follow her family.

Heero put his hand on Shu Yin's shoulder and looked at the small stone that simply said 'Kitten'. "We're so original." sadly as there was another animal. He smirked though "She really was one. with tiny little claws that really didn't do any damage except to her older brother." he heard a huff of a laugh from Shu. That let him know that Fox would be okay. Standing "I'm the last Yoh." Sighing deeply he heard his sister after a punch to the arm 'You a** hole, you don't live life to the fullest you need to be more daring, you know if your not then a good thing will be right in front of you.' "your right." "Hm?" Trowa looked at Heero who shrugged but eyes went wide as Shu Yin turned grabbed the sides of Heero's head and yanked him in for a deep kiss. "Hm...." trowa raised an eyebrow "Guess the houses of Yoh, Yuy and Barton are going to die with us. So be it" he smirked and walked away from the two kissing.

He would frequent Adara's grave giving her little presents or flowers as if he was wooing her. Shu Yin and Heero one day watched as he was a civilian and dug up a bit of earth and buried a BEAUTIFUL diamond ring "In the next lifetime I'm going to make you wear that ring if you like it or not." He smiled wiping away a tear with a older and aged finger from his eye. His silvery white hair came around his face, hiding the smile wrinkles but it couldn't hide the fact that he had trouble standing up. He really was career military and was two proud to ask for help.

The three men in their 70s walked off quietly and lived a quiet life till they one by one slowly drifted away in their sleep peacefully. Shu Yin was the last and held a picture of him and his lover. Setting it aside he pulled the picture of his sister. It was old and worn but it still made him smile "Good bye my sweet baby sister." as he slowly drifted off never to wake again.

Walking through the underworld he eventually wound up at the door to the Elysian Fields. Blinking there was his sister his lover and his best friend waiting for him waving. But unfortunately not everything in life or the after life was that simple, not for them.........
