Lucci stood outside of the huge old house. It was a bit bigger than she had expected, she knew this was going to be a big job too, house sitting wasn't exactly an easy job but it paid well. She held out the electric key ring and locked her car, although it probably wouldn't make any difference considering she was almost in the middle of no where, people wouldn't come to this old house to steal things. At least she didn't think so. "Okay, well, here we go then." she says picking her bags back up off the ground and walking up the old steps to the front door.
As soon as she reached the door to knock it swung open and a small old woman was waiting there with a grin on her face. "Why hello dear! Its so nice to meet you, my name is Isobel Jennings, you may just call me Isobel, none of that Mrs stuff. I'm not old enough for that!" she tells Lucci and laughs inviting her into the house. "It's nice to meet you Isobel, I'm Lucci." Lucci tells her following her in.
Lucci was in awe of the house, it was stunning, "This is a beautiful house Mrs, Uh, Isobel." she tells her wondering which room will be hers, "Oh thank you dear, if you'll come this way I'll take you to your room, you will be happy to know you will have the master bedroom with its own bathroom, I know how girls like their privacy." Isobel tells her and laughs softly, she was turning out to be a great old lady.
Lucci had gotten settled quickly, putting her clothes away in the big beautiful chest of drawers and the armoire. "I wonder...what else is in this great big house..." she wonders with a grin, Lucci had never been one to pry but a big house like this had to have some secrets that would be fun, even if they were old secrets, and she was sure Isobel wouldn't mind her getting used to the house.
Lucci left her room, closing her door quietly, she didn't want to disturb.
She started walking down the hall, just when she was about to turn the corner she saw it, the old spiral staircase tucked away in a darkish kind of corner. Lucci grinned, an attic. She had never seen an attic yet that didn't have lots of wonderful things in them. So she started up the steps and pushed open the door, it was old, it looked older than the rest of the house but she assumed that it was just because no one had been up here in a while.
Lucci walked through, looking at this and that, mirrors, old pictures, sewing machines, just old stuff that hadnt been touched in what looked like a century. Then, then it caught her eye, sitting on top of a trunk, in the back of the attic behind the sewing dummy. A necklace, it was stunning, simple but beautiful with a larger pendant in the middle.
"So I see you like to explore." came Isobel's voice, Lucci spun around her hand on her heart, she had been so into the necklace she hadn't even heard the door open back up. "Isobel, I-I'm sorry, I just wanted to look around the house, I hope you don't mind."
"Your fine my dear, just fine, I cant say when I was a girl I didnt get curious about this old attic. What have you got there?" she asks Lucci.
Lucci looks back at the necklace picking it up gingerly, it was surprisingly sturdy for its age. "This necklace, I just noticed it sitting here, Its really pretty, is it yours?" she asks holding it up into the little bit of light that was coming in from the windows.
Isobel squints her eyes trying to focus on the necklace a bit better, she considers it for a moment before saying "Oh, no, its not mine, wasnt my mothers either. I haven't actually seen it before. Though there a quite a few things I have never seen before in this attic."
Lucci smiles looking at it, it was just too pretty, classy like a string of pearls but with a vintage twist.
Noticing the look on Lucci's face Isobel smiles "You can have it if you like, I have no use for it, and it will only stay up here and rust.
Lucci looks up stunned, she was just going to give it away? "Are you sure? I mean, thats so generous, I dont think I-"
Isobel holds up her hands with a warm smile on her face, "I insist, as a house warming gift." and with that Isobel left.
Lucci unhooks the latch and places the necklace around her neck, it was cold at first but quickly warms to her skin. She leaves the attic then to go look at herself in the necklace in the mirror of her new bathroom.
