Dear Teacher,
My name is Logan ******, and I am applying to AP English. Things that I like to
do are many and varied. I like to talk to my friends over the internet, much more
than I like to face-to-face. This is one of my favorite activities, because people are
more honest when you don't know their actual names or faces. You can also talk
about anything you like, without having to worry about consequences in your life. I
like to play with various programs on my computer, and as such, I always need to
keep a back up of it's operating system close by, in case I download a virus. I am
paranoid about virus's, and I reinstall my system about twice a month. I really don't
like needing to act humble around my teachers, so that they can feel as though
they are actually teaching me something, which, most of the time, they are not. I
also don't like being assigned to write things that I feel are completely pointless,
such as a letter describing myself, for the purpose of getting into an advanced
placement class. The point of the class is not to get to know people, but to learn
advanced English. This leads to the next thing I don't like. People in general. I am
very anti-social, and being around other people usually puts me in a bad mood. I
won't express my bad mood, however, because I like to be considerate to others,
unlike most people my age. I am not a thankful person, and I despise saying
'thank you' when I do not mean it. I still do, however, because, once again, I am a
considerate person. This is one of the few things that I do, even when I really don't
want to.
I have many hobbies, a lot of which involve being inside, and can be done by
yourself. I like to read, much more than anyone else I've ever met. I went through a
phase in my life where I would read at least one good-sized (around 200-300
pages) book every day. If I like a book, I can read it several times over, without
getting bored. I also like to screen-print drawings that I make. This is the most
social hobby I have, because I use a shared studio to do the printing. The most
active hobby I have is archery, which I have restarted recently. A hobby that I like a
lot, but rarely involve myself in, is soldering. I have made a universal remote, an
alarm, and I am going to soon make a very low graphic video game.
I don't have many responsibilities. I have to keep my room clean, put the
dishes away, and take care of my animals.
The thing I love more than anything else is animals. Specifically, I love my
cat more than anything or anyone else. Another thing I love is my laptop, because
it provides me with hours of entertainment, and allows me to talk to my friends. I
hate people who think they are smarter or superior to me simply because they are
older. I hate them with a passion. I also hate little kids, and kids my age. I pretty
much hate people as a whole, as I stated earlier.
The extra-curricular activities I am involved in are archery and screen printing.
I also ran video for the recent teacher appreciation ceremony at the school.
My family, at least the part I live with, is very small. My mom and dad are
divorced, and my dad lives in Sonora, where we used to live. Both my brothers are
in college, one in Sacramento, one in San Diego. I live with my mom, my two cats,
and my dog.
I want to be in AP English because I want a class that will provide me with a
challenge. The reason I deserve to be in it is this paper. I was completely honest in
this paper, and I didn't make up a bunch of bullshit to try to get whoever is reading
this to like me, which I'm guessing most other people who are applying to this
class did. Another reason I deserve to be in AP English is my exemplary
performance throughout the year. The last reason is very simple. I actually took
the time to write this paper, even though, as I stated earlier, I believe it to be
completely pointless. Perhaps it's not. Maybe the whole point of this paper was to
allow you to see just how amazing and honest I am. If you don't accept me into
the class because of the honesty in this paper, then, oh well, that is in no way my
fault.
