"So, you remember that one day when we went to the mall and…” Blah, blah, blah. How can Ashley talk about the mall right now? Tori thought. No one wants to hear about the mall, we all just want to go home. Tori caught the yawn of the people sitting around her. The insipid speech wasn’t making things any more exciting.
“Tori… did you hear me?” Ashley shook Tori’s shoulder. “Josh said he was going to get some friends together and…” with a gasp “LOOKIT!!” Tori looked where Ashley was pointing. Colorful confetti and white and green balloons were floating lazily from the rafters.
The old wooden doors to the auditorium burst open with a whoosh and the school band came in playing “We are the Champions”. Half the people sitting down ran up to the stage to join the professor and they all started doing the Cancan.
“Is this the thing Josh had planned?” Tori screamed to Ashley in delight.
“It sure looks like it!!” Ashley jumped up and pulled Tori to the aisle and they ran up to the stage to join the mass of people dancing and singing along to the music
