Aliyah loved to run she love the feel of the dirt underneath her powerful paws,the smell of the forest filling her nostrils. If she could stay in wolf form without dealing with her pack she would. Aliyah used to think of the pack as her escape to the secret filled human life,that was until the Alpha picked Aliyah as his mate. Blaise had rightfully earned his spot as Alpha he was a pure bred,and the strongest among the wolves. Aliyah had always thought of him as her big brother she couldn't imagine becoming his mate but she had little choice in the matter she couldn't refuse. Was there a way to make Blaise pick someone else? or could she grow to love him?

The small town I lived in never had much going on. Most places have night clubs,restaurants, movie theaters and shopping malls, my town had one bar, a mini mart,and one Italian restaurant that was it. The closest thing we had to a mall was a walmart and that was two towns over. My parents town the restaurant and the bar,the bar was call The Sapphire Room was filled with pack but it had a few local drunks. Everyone in town knew who my family was this could have been because we owe most of the town or because of our legendary party's. Ever month we have a full moon celebration and only pack was invited. My mother was always so thrilled for these party's she always reminded me 'Aliyah all the alphas will be there you simply must impress one,wear something cute' by impress she meant seduce,you see around the time of a full moon us wolves go in heat.Usually we're only in heat for five to ten days and rarely are men among those in heat. The party's my parents hosted had two sections,one was for our underage or modest pack members we referred to this side as the lounge it had music and drinks and a training ring. Fights were held for the pups to earn their place among the pack. The other section we called the den was filled with sex and alcohol,the music was erotic and candles were scattered across the room. I tried to hide in my room during these party's but after my eighteenth birthday my mother demanded I show my face. Her hopes were that I would become the head alphas mate.Our pack leader was Blaise I knew him well he was like a big brother to me I never considered him as a possible mate. I never considered anyone as a mate my mind was consumed by enjoying the simple things and ignoring life changing decisions.
The pack only had about a handful of pure bred's. Most of our members were mutts,wolves with mixed blood but were lucky to get our gift. Blaise,Lucian,Andrea,Emmet,Jasper,Cyrene and myself were among the few of our generation to be pure blood. My parents let me know since I hit puberty that I was only allowed to mate with a wolf of pure blood. They told me our families blood was one of the purest in our pack and they intended to keep it that way. I know my parents only meant well when they encouraged me to only date the pure. I would be mortified if I mated a lesser wolf and our children had no wolf ability's. I didn't have to worry much about picking a mate one had already picked me,Blaise. He was Alpha I could not refuse him,I tried to convince him and the council to reconsider that there are other fine females that desired to be his mate. At first the council tried to persuade Blaise to listen saying 'we would hate to force one of our females to do something that displeased her so much' I don't know what made Blaise so mad,maybe the fact that I didn't want to be his mate? or was it just the way the council phrased their request. "I am Alpha and my word is law! I say that Aliyah will be my mate and that is final!" with that said Blaise transformed into wolf form and growled at the pack showing his dominance "Yes, we understand" the council replied dropping the subject but giving me a sympathetic glance.I don't understand why Blaise wanted me. He was alpha he could have any female in the pack. Half the females in our pack threw themselves at him because of his appearance the other half only wanted him for his position. I was one of the only woman not trying to get with Blaise.
It was raining when I started to walk home from the meeting. I turned my face up at the sky letting the rain cover me. I loved the smell of rain so fresh,and clean. I stood there taking in the smell of the rain when I noticed a familiar scent coming up behind me. I didn't move things are complicated enough without making a stupid move and making him angry. He was close I could feel his warmth radiating onto my back "why are you just standing here in the rain?" He whispered it in my ear "I enjoy the rain. I love the smell and I find it refreshing" I replied allowing him to wrap his arm around my waist and pull me against me. "why don't you want to be my mate Aliyah?" I could sense the hurt in his voice. I wanted to comfort him but didn't know what to say "Blaise its not that I don't want to be your mate I just don't understand why you want me." I mumbled this under my breath but I know he heard me."why wouldn't I want you"He nuzzled his face into the nook of my neck. I felt the heat of a blush across my face "You could have anyone in the pack" I leaned into him it seemed strange to be acting this way with him. After years of following him around,playful teasing and his mild bullying, this is where we ended up. I liked it the affection but was it wrong to be doing this with Blaise? It felt forced and awkward but his body was so welcoming and his scent filling my nostrils made my wolf stir. "True,but I want you." his voice was firm and his grip tightened. He moved my wet hair away from my neck and started a trail of kisses. "I thought you saw me as a little sister not a future mate" I said shuttering with every lightly trailed kiss. "Aliyah you've really grown into yourself and I find myself very attracted to the woman you've become." Suddenly he realised me and and was gone into the night.
I walked in my house I heard raised and angry voices in the kitchen. I listened in just for a moment it was my parents. My mother was screaming about my fathers many affairs. Normally wolves are extremely loyal and protective of their mates.My father didn't see his affairs as a problem. I shook my head and went upstairs to my room. I changed into an oversized t-shirt and laid down on my bed looking out my window at the rain.Before I knew it I was waking up to the sweet aroma of bacon.
