Chapter 3
“I hate parties” – I thought to myself as I entered Matt’s house. It was crammed up with people, bumping and tripping over each other. There was music blasting at full volume, making the whole house shake. I couldn’t breathe. Not only because of the absence of fresh air, but also because of the amount of people that had gathered. This is not a “friendly get-together”, it’s a full blasting, roof raising party. - Are you kidding me?! – I shouted to Sam over the sound of music. - What do you mean? – Sam shouted back. - You said it’s going to be a simple party! - It is! Why? Does it matter to you? - It does! I’m going home! – I turned around. - No wait! Don’t go! – Sam tried grabbing me by my elbow, but her hand was jerked away by a drunk guy, wobbling around and spilling his beer on everyone. – Hey! Watch out, jerk! “This is not a place for me… Why did I even agreed to this –“ I bumped into a guy – Oh! I’m sorry, I didn’t see you there.- “God, I can’t even walk straight while sober…” - It’s OK… Hey, wait..! Lisa? Is it you? Wow! I did not recognize you. You look really good! Never thought of seeing you here tonight. How are you doing? It seemed Matt had known quite a lot of people. In front of me there stood Bill. He was the cute, simple guy in school, never stood out, had good grades. We were friends since middle school and somehow tried to manage surviving high school. Though, after graduating a year early, he moved to London, to live with his father. It’s been two years since I last saw him. - Bill? It’s been ages! I’m good… good… What are you doing here? – I stuttered, still not believing my eyes. - Matt invited me. Wow! I never thought you could look this good in a skirt! – he smirked. - Ha ha, very funny, - I said sarcastically.- why aren’t you in London? - My dad and I thought it would be best for me if I could settle down here. Probably the one thing we both could agree on. - Why? Did something happen? - Not really. It seems that he just got bored of me. But never mind, - he shook his head. – I want to hear more about you! - Oh… Well, there is not much to hear. - And since I was away you should tell me every single detail! - Maybe another time, OK? – I pushed out a polite smile. - Sure. When? - What? – I asked confused. He stood still for a minute or two, smiling at me. - Are you free tomorrow? Is he asking me out? - I think so. Yeah. - Good. I’ll pick you up at five then. - S-sure, - I clapped my eyes. - Great then! – he turned his head to look at the fuss behind him. - Hate to leave you, but I need to meet some of my other friends. See you later? - Yeah… See you. Did I just agree to go out on a date? With my childhood friend?
