Rip's notes
Just the ramblings that go through my mind, and the ideas I come up with.
Retrospect (Richard-Part one)
My name is Richard. My last name is unimportant, I've used many in my days upon this land and trying to find one to call my own is more painful than I prefer to endure. I as born in the Arkansas Territory, March 1st, 1835. I died on July 5th, 1867. I will spare you the details and petty hows and whys, but exactly eight days later I rose from my shallow grave and left to kill the man who killed my wife. I will not pretend that my path was just, that my motives were pure, or that my very rising was anything less than damnable. I understand that my entire being is an abomination against the sanctity of life, from the sharpened teeth in my mouth to the vile poison that flows in my veins even after over a hundred years.

That being said, I do not regret my choice, not truly, for I would have never met the most influential people in my life had I not accepted the curse that sits upon my brow. Because I know you burn to find the answer, I will tell you that I succeeded in my mission to find and kill the man who killed my wife. I will not tell you when, how, or who, as I no longer feel that the event that set me down my path was really as important as the events that occurred while treading it.

I fought in several wars in my lifetime... I supposed that's not really the right way to put it, as I only fought in one war while I was alive. I have fought several in several wars in my unlifetime. I always seemed to find my way into violent situations and I really must admit that it was likely this tendency that caused them to find me. You see, in the latter portion of my most extended stay upon this wide Earth I was inducted into an organization known simply as Stokes. The easiest way to put the function of this most enigmatic of foundations into perspective was given to me by one of my superiors as he joked during my own recruitment. "When things bump in the night, we bump back."

I am not comfortable with waxing nostalgic, so I will end this entry here. Perhaps after tonight's mission I will feel inclined to jot down more details. Training missions do always make me feel chatty and Elliot seems like the kind to catch on quick to our line of work.

Until next time: Stay safe, and don't let yourself become a mess that we have to clean up.
