Anime Origin of Big a** Swords search results
Chris and I were watching Higurashi and talking about anime. He mentioned Drago Ball Z popularized the pointy anime hair. I was curious about the start of big swords. I guessed that it might be Berserk (Creator Kentaro Miura, Manga began in 1989). I was correct that it popularized it, but it technically wasn't the first. We did some searching to figure out the answer. Sites we came across and used below:

What is The Origin of Giant Swords?
https://www.reddit.com/r/Berserk/comments/3cj5v1/what_is_the_origin_of_giant_swords/
"It's become one of the more popular touchstones for large swords in fiction, but it wasnt the very first. Miura has referenced another manga series that featured a large sword: Pygmalion

Edit: Fixed link."

Incorrect Pygmalio from 2015 based on Reddit Google link:

Chris searched Pygmalio on Google separately and info for Shinji Wada came up instead of Chihiro Watanabe:

Under Manga works:
Pygmalio (1978-1990, Hana to Yume, Hakusensha)

I searched to find it was an old Shojo magazine where this manga was first published. Hakusensha is the publishing company in Japan:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hana_to_Yume
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hakusensha

We found this on Anime-Planet, and saw 11 people listed it as "reading":
https://www.anime-planet.com/manga/pygmalio

This also verifies it as a story published in Hana to Yume:

Found under Associated Names on this page Dragon Pigmario, ピグマリオ.
https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=5926

Googled this title, ピグマリオ, and got Page Mario in the translation with this as the first result:
Japanese Wikipedia Pig Mario " Pigumario " is, " Hana to Yume " ( Hakusensha ) 1978 No. 7 - 1990 No. 20 in the series have been Shinji Wada of fantasy comics , and to do it with the original TV animation is. The motif is the Pygmalion legend of Greek mythology .
