The knocking stopped, and I peered toward the front door. Tip-toeing over to the kitchen, ANTIE's small display panel in the counter lit up. A silent display read:
display screen
Two beings. Species unknown. Displaying badges of authority of the Gaian police department. Armed.
I looked at the panel after I'd read it, curious. ANTIE was paying attention, though, because the screen flashed a new message.
display screen
Suggest opening the front door before they try breaking in.
I rolled my eyes at the display, which cleared and just showed

blaugh stressed
"Fine." I whispered harshly. Still uneasy, I grabbed a cup of coffee before heading to the front door.
I heard mumbling, as if the two officers were arguing. Hoping they weren't discussing breaking down my door, I took a deep breath and spoke to the door.
"Who is there?"
A startled silent moment passed, only a few seconds. Then a male voice responded.
"Officers Phierson and McVale, miss. We need to talk to you. Can you let us in?" His voice was strained, as if he wasn't sure that that was what he was supposed to ask.
I unlocked the door, and opened it, allowing the two officers, both male, a view of me and my house.
"I'm... not really dressed for company." I said, trying to excuse my pajamas.
The officer on the right shook his head. "This shouldn't take long, miss." It was not the officer who had spoken through the door.
I let them in, and wrinkled my face after them, as they walked into the parlor. I closed the door gently, noticing that outside, there were three police vehicles, one still occupied with two agents.
"So, is this about my father?" I asked, coming up from behind the officers and sitting down in an armchair. I took a sip of coffee and almost smiled as the one who had spoke through my door, Phierson, made a move as if to sit before McVale put an arm across him. They stood there, McVale trying to stare through me and Phierson trying not to look at me.
Something about this was not right. I pressed a hidden button on the endtable next to me slowly, twice.
"Actually, miss rose, it is not directly about your father. We have no further information concerning him, and can not confirm nor deny the information that he may be deceased. We are here on legal matters." McVale pulled out a stapled packet of papers from his clipboard, and passed them over to me.
Glancing at the papers, I recognized no names except mine, and when trying to read it I found myself lost in legal-ese. The only thing I could discern was that it had been filed with a court, and that it could only mean trouble when handed over by cops.
"What is all this?" I asked, looking up at them. Behind them, I could see my pets sneaking into the hall. ANTIE had alerted them to a possible problem as per my signal. However, I didn't know what I wanted them to do. I saw Niko run back into the den, no doubt waking up Wynn and getting her info from ANTIE about what was going on.
"Well, miss. As your mother is deceased and your father is, at this time, presumed dead, you are without a custodian."
"I'm almost twenty years old. I am an adult." I stated, though I was kind of interrupting.
I caught Phierson's eyes, and they looked... sad. I supressed an urge to gulp.
McVale continued. "While it is true, miss, that legal age for a human is indeed eighteen years of age, it has been brought to our attention that you are almost anything but human. A fact that your parents illegally hid from record on entry of your birth but which has now been corrected. Your heritage being such as it is, a court hearing has been convened to deliberate on the exact legal age for someone with your... lineage." He smirked at that, as if enjoying holding the unknown over me. Phierson, however, seemed fine, right until McVale mentioned my lineage, at which he stared at me hard, his right hand holding onto his gun holster, as if he wanted to hold the gun instead.
Instictively, at that, I stood. McVale was ready for that, though, and lunged at me and grabbed my arm, twisting it behind me before I could move. "Now!" he yelled, pushing me to the floor, and I could hear two other sets of shoes race into the room. I turned my head on the plush carpet, and saw three identical police-issue sets of shoes.
"Wha-?" I started to ask, but was stopped by a fierce electricity that suddenly surged through my body, and I lost consciousness.

And which is why I kill them on site.
The legal age for a full demon is somewhere between 26-36 (Not sure exactly)
The legal age for a mage is not a number, but when the mage has their first child.
However, that's about all I know... and I reallly don't understand why they attacked you...
