Let me just tell you what happened when I was at work yesterday....
So this lady comes in with an order just shy of $220. Everything goes fine, until she tries to pay. stare She said that she left her bank card at the bank and that she'd go to where her husband works and just get his card. The lady had asked us to put her cart off to the side and she'd be back as soon as she could. She didn't come back! D:
About ten or so minutes later, I get this guy who wants to buy his groceries with a foodstamp card. He had a $95 order and only $11.90 on his card. Normally, with a credit card, you can go over the amount that's in your account. Not with a foodstamp card! gonk I brought over an assistant manager and the manager on duty to talk to this guy. He was just plain old annoyin'! So yet another cart full of groceries had to be put back.
The guy behind the foodstamp guy, well... he couldn't speak English. stare I don't have anything against that, except that the mug that he was trying to buy didn't have a sticker or anything on it to scan! D: No price, no nothing! I had to call another assistant manager over to look for the price! Oh, and this entire time, I shoulda been on lunch break. T-T It just wasn't my day.
That's my ranting about work. *nods*
Now here's the essay that I worked so hard on. whee The topic was to write about a place that you go to when you want to relax. It's a descriptive essay and we had to spend at least thirty minutes in our special place and write down everything that we saw, smelt, heard, felt.... you get the idea. The problem is, I had to write this from memory. D: I haven't been to my aunt's house in a long time.
Anyways... the essay.
"When I need a quiet place to reflect on my thoughts, I love going to my aunt’s house. I can always keep my head clear and think freely. Allow me to draw a picture of this place; the fresh-cut grass, blue skies, and soft breeze. This place doesn’t seem to have a cloudy day.
During the summer, the best time to be outside in Pennsylvania is about an hour or so before nightfall. The temperature there is much cooler than what I’m used to in Florida. Back in these less commercialized areas, the air quality makes you want to breathe deeply. Sunlight warms my shoulders as I look down at a sudoku book. Scratching created from my pencil breaks the silence. I wonder which numbers could complete the puzzle. Then I softly smile to myself and look around to show someone, anyone the work that I’ve done. Sighing and looking around, I realize that I’m alone with my thoughts.
Grass underneath me pokes at my back as I look up at the clouds. The tickle of a bug bite wakes me from this half dream-like state. Colors in the sky change from a light blue to tint pink, then orange and vivid red. I can smell barbeque from the neighbor’s house as the sun begins to set off to my right. A few cars can be heard from the nearby road, carrying people that are driving home after a day’s work.
When the sun finally sets, the only visible lights are from my aunt’s cigarette and the dancing fire flies down the hill. The temperature continues to fall as I get an urge to run after them. After just a few moments of shivering, I stand and look back at my aunt’s house, weighing my options. My carefree side prevails as I turn and run towards the fire flies and into the night."
I hope that you've enjoyed reading this. whee
