Friendship. This has been on my mind for awhile now. A conversation with one of my friends has made me think alot about friendship. It doesn't matter who the person was or what the conversation was about, but just know that this entry was inspired by that friend. First of all, what is a friend? WHat does friendship mean to you? Think about it really hard. Different people have different perspectives on friendship. Some people don't believe in friends. The people they talk to, the people they hang out with, and the people they work with, none of them are their friends. They put up a facade and inwardly refuse to like or trust any of those people. They care only for themselves and see people as tools to get where they need to go or what they want. Friendship doesn't exist. It's an illusion. To others, a friend is merely someone you speak with on occasion at least. Nothing really needs to be known about them other than that they exist. A real quantity over quality thing. Their "friends" are just people they interact with at their leisure. Why? ******** if I know. Intitiate an assload of friendships without ever getting close to someone seems pretty pointless to me. There's also people that need to surround themselves with people that do the EXACT same thing. Just so they don't feel different. Ridiculous. On Gaia I have 13 friends. Not because I'm unsociable, but because I talk to all of my friends. At least I try to. I keep up with them, see how they're doing occasionally. I try to get to know them. It might be a little harsh, but if I don't talk to someone for more than 2 months, I delete them. Romance can complicate frienship. It can ruin friendships. Everyone knows that though. It's great when things work out perfect though. I've seen it happen. Another complication with friendship, the biggest on my opinion, is how you interpret your frienships with other people. What I mean is, it's like when you have feelings for someone who won't return your feelings. Kinda. You can feel like you're connecting with someone and feel close to that person. That's how it is from YOUR side though. On their side, your someone they just talk to every once and awhile. Someone to burn some time with. Your a friend that's easily replaceable, you know? That sucks. You know what though, they're not bad people. Just like you can't help your feelings for someone, you can't help it if you don't like someone that much. It feels awful to be on either side if you know what's going on, well depending on what kind of person you are. I mean, you don't really want to talk to someone, but they enjoy talking to you so much, it's hard to send them away right? I dunno, maybe I'm wrong on both accouts. Agh, my head hurts again.
