The day was loud, hot, and very irritating. as was usual on market day. Dwarves were bustling around the blacksmiths shop while Humans were haggling about food prices and Elves were looking at some cloth. A town crier ran up the street yelling, "Make way! Make way for the high Elf of the house of Lazia!" People pressed themselves against the walls so as not to be crushed by the carriage rumbling by after the town crier. The carriage was beautiful. It was colored in intricate patterns and designs and inlaid with gold in many places. The horses pulling the carriage were all snow white with black hooves and noses. they were rather beautiful. Among those pressing themselves against the wall was a young girl. She looked to be about 13 or 14. She was Elvin, which was made obvious by her ears, they were slightly pointed. She had shaggy short jet black hair that looked as if it had been cut with a hunting knife. Her eyes were deep, deep, black. blacker than her hair even. one of her eyes, the left one to be exact, had a scar. She wore blacks, browns, and grays. As if she wanted to blend in where ever she went. She had little bags hung over her arms, legs, waist, and over her shoulders. She also had a hunting knife and dagger thrust through her belt. The crowd being pressed against the wall seemed to help her business at least. She was picking peoples pockets. And, I might add, was very good at it. She would take their valuables from their pockets and slip them into her bags while they were straining their necks to get a look at the high Elf. As I said, it was good for her business. As the carriage rumbled by, the thief looked up and caught a glimpse of the high Elf. He had white hair just as all elderly Elves (and some younger ones) do. His eyes looked, even from this viewpoint where she only saw the corners, proud, haughty, and uncaring. Looking at those eyes made her shiver. She turned away. "Time to go she thought. "Before these people realize that their things are missing." She grinned at the thought, it would be mayhem as soon as they did. She started slinking trough the crowd like a cat. Right before she got to the gate, she turned down an alleyway and came out a moment later on a long legged, thin brown horse. She went through the gate unnoticed and headed down the road. In the city, people were beginning to realize that their money bags felt considerably lighter.
