Ah, Christmas. There are a number of kind people on Gaia, and thanking them all won't fit in my sig.
So, here are thanks to those who gifted me. I will have to try to find a way to spread some joy myself. sweatdrop For those who gifted, you know what you gave. Lets try to avoid beggars. wink

Not much. Life's a b***h. Good thing I am, too. |

Not much new stuff going on. The administrator is still trying to sell my grandfather's hosue, as well as Dad's hay field. The hay field was offered to developers who want to build condos, BTW. Of course, that's more than half of Dad's crop field, so if we lose that, we lose the whole farm. Thank you very much, Mr. court-appointed-administrator. gonk stressed
The admin. needs to go to court with 100% approval from the heirs to get liscense to sell, otherwise, he needs to convince the judge that he needs to sell. Fortunately, there are no bills against the estate, since my grandmother and my father are paying them all. And, for those who will ask, the only reason there is an administrator is because my grandfather died without a will and also with three illegitimate children whose mother raised a stink about letting my grandmother and father settle the estate. stressed scream
So now dad is trying to get his lawyer to get off his @$$ and get a buyout amount from the 3 brats so we can take the properties off the market before their sold. stressed xp
Other than that: The baby is now 1, almost walking (crawling is still faster), and he signs and tries to talk. So my immediate domestic life is OK. But we have plans to move in to my grandfather's hosue, so my father's lawyer better get a move on.

Terrible Twos, Teething, and, um, Tucker? |

Yay! I haven't fallen off the face of the planet. Well, actually, I did, but I came back. Too much pink.
Anyway, the littlest one is teething. Joy. Actually, he's taking it pretty well, but apparently Daddy's fingers are great teething toys. whee
The middle child has hit his terrible twos, so we're expecting a bunch of pranks in the house. Source: Mischevious spirit who really does know better, but is using his birthday as an excuse.
Yes, you read right. Our middle child died five days after he was born, 3 months premature. He'd have been 2 today.
And if that sob story doesn't get you to donate to your local March of Dimes or sponsor me or sponsor my husband when we do the WalkAmerica in April, you need to hand in your membership card for humanity. xp
Seriously, premature births suck, whether the baby survives or not. So help out. And if you can't donate money, donate some time, sign up for a walk, and get other people to sponsor you. (And if you can afford to get 4 or 5 donation letters a month on Gaia but not donate 5 bucks to charity, you need to get your priorities straight!)
And my husband has discovered the goodness that is Red vs. Blue. They get DVDs new at his store, so when they have to be there after hours for inventory or something, they often play RVB so the room isn't totally silent. mrgreen

Been a while. Well, let's see.
The baby is huge! At his 4 month visit he weight 20 lbz, 12 oz, and he's 22.5 inches tall (or long, since he was laying down). eek He's on the tall end of the height chart, and completely blown past the weight chart. stare Mommy makes good stuff! xd
My husband's job: He loves the work (c'mon, it's a game store), but payroll is still f'd up. As of right now, he is owed 50 (!) hours in back pay. That happens to amount to a mortgage payment. stressed However, payday is tomorrow, so hopefully it will be straightened out. (My Mom had to pay our mortgage this month so we wouldn't get hit with late fees. Thanks, Mom!)
My father has asked us to consider me moving to Pittsfield (an hour drive) during the week to take care of my grandmother, since his work keeps him on the road most of those days. (Right now she's living with an aunt who works night shifts in a hospital, so that isn't working too well. This is an alternative to a nursing home she has no medical need for.) I'd trade off with my mother on the weekends, and get to come home. Right now she spends the work week here because she's taking care of her parents. xd This would go on until a) we find another solution, b) we all move up there permanently (which we want anyway), or c) Grandma dies (she is in her mid 80s). crying
Dad mentioned paying me, but honestly, I'd do it anyway. C'mon. It's my grandmother. If paying me to compensate for missing my husband makes them feel better, fine. I won't lie and say we don't need the money. It's just not a factor in my decision.
The hardest part is that this would require transferring our older son to a new school system more than 1/2 way through the year, and he just got transferred into this one when the school department rearranged all the districts in the city. sweatdrop
In all honesty, I think he could take his "finals" (he's in 2nd grade) now and ace them.
Other than that. Life is pretty boring here. How about you guys?
Oh, and we borrowed LEGO Star Wars for the GameCube. That game rawks! blaugh

Well, my husband started his new job last Tuesday. He's an AM for Gamestop, currently training to open a new store a few minutes from our house. So a big thanks to everyone who sent us well-wishes during December. heart
Discounts on video games and discounts at Barnes & Noble.
stare
We're gonna need a bigger house.
exclaim
Oh, and speaking of bigger things, the baby, who is 12 weeks, mind you, weighs in over 17 pounds! mrgreen He's got these adorable pinchable cheeks! If I can get a recent picture, I'll put it up.
The downside is he's outgrown all the cloth diapers I bought him already. gonk Maybe I should make a "Diaper the baby" fund and start taking donations.
stare
Nah. whee

OK, this is fun. My husband just got laid off on Friday. Because, and I quote, the manager "didn't like his attitude."
stare
Keep in mind, he'd been working there for a year and a half. He didn't just suddenly develop a bad attitude. Basically, the manager found out he was looking for a new job, since they weren't giving him enough hours to cover the bills, even when I was working 30 hours a week. So he up and fired him, which was stupid (for them), since now he gets unemployment. He didn't violate any company policy, so if the store fights it, it's a waste of time on their part. cool
The upside is his projected benefits are about the same as he was netting. The downside is a) it wasn't that much (a little over $200 a week), and now we don't have insurance (so now I have to fill out a Masshealth form and wait). And the baby has his 2 month visit next week. gonk
Oh well. The job market is good, and he can basically have his pick. He's hoping for a management position at GameStop, so anyone reading this, cross your fingers, say a prayer, light a candle, whatever positive wishes you can send our way that he gets the job he wants. heart
Oh, and if anyone stops in to the Applebee's in Westfield, order steak or something grilled, and make sure you point out how the product seems inferior to what it used to be. He worked grill and has always had a high standard of quality. xd

OK, I was on maternity leave until Monday. I wasn't cleared to work, since I'd had a C-section, so that means no unemployment. Since my company didn't offer paid vacations, the leave wasn't paid. We went a month without my income, and while we're not in deep financial trouble, it wasn't easy.
So Monday I get my slip saying I can go back to work. I really didn't want to leave the baby, but it would be 4 hours in the morning, most before the sun came up (school van driver).
I go down on Tuesday to give my boss my slip, and he has one of his own for me. 3 guesses as to the color. stare
Don't get me wrong. He's a nice guy, and they had to lay off people above me in seniority as well. There just weren't enough runs due to consolidation. He did say that a lot of the van drivers were upgrading to CDL (bus) and that the people laid off would get first refusal when the runs opened up.
Anyway. Now I'm out of a job. Here's the upside: now I get to collect unemployment. 3nodding (My boss was the one to point this out, when he asked why I wanted to come back so soon. I love him!)
And my unemployment check will be within about $10-$20 to what I would have been bringing home had I gone to work. eek
My mother said this was proof there is a God. I said I never doubted. We just couldn't agree on who She was. xd
