chpt 1 part 2
"Jeanie! Wake up." The darkness that was surrounding me was now light. A beautiful light pink glowed around a face, a familiar face. Grace's bright yellow eyes were staring down at me, and beside her was Cayden's bright blue eyes. I sighed with relief that they were here. In my light. "What happened?" I asked as I sat upright. "Well, we were deciding if we wanted to go swimming at the beach, or start building our fort in the jungle." Phifer said from somewhere behind me. "And then, you fainted." Cayden answered, his eyes were full of worry. I blinked then furiously rubbed my eyes. How could I just faint like that? Was I sick? Why did I have such a weird dream. Was it even a dream? Do you dream when you fainted. I strained to stand up until Cayden scooped me up and put me on my feet. I started into his deep eyes and smiled. He smiled back at me, and gave a little awkward chuckle. "Well I think we should start our fort." I told my friends as I sweeper my pants with the palms of my hand. "Jeanie, you just fainted." Grace advised. "Shouldn't you take it easy?" I understood her worry, but I just couldn't sit around thinking about the dream I just had. "I'm fine." I responded and walked out from the small little storage room that we tagged as our hangout. I lead them out from the orphanage that I called home and into the jungle. They followed me, not speaking to each other. Once we got deep enough into the jungle, were the other kids couldn't find us I turned around. A huge smile on my face reassured them I was fine. "So we need supplies" I told my friends, then looked at the two boys. "Me and Gracie will go down to the beach and steal some of the nets, and you guys go get some large branches." "Right." Phifer and Cayden said together. Gracie and I turned and headed south towards the beach. It wasn't hard to find the nets, the fishermen had plenty. Gracie and I grabbed as many as we could then sat down to watch the forever lingering sunset. In our world the sun always slung on the horizon, giving the sky a orange glow. That’s why the island was called Sunset Island. "Are you going to start dating Cayden?" Grace finally asked after a few minutes. A blush flared across my face. "No! Why would you think that Gracie?" She chuckled. "Because your beautiful and he likes you." I covered my face in embarrassment. Was this really true? "Your seventeen Jeanie, it's okay to date you know." Grace continued. "You know Kelvin Krisp? I want to date him." I turned to face my best friend. "Why don't you then?" "Because... he probably wouldn't want to." She said tipping her face towards the sandy earth. "Sure he would, your such a gorgeous girl Grace." I compliment my friend. Gracie and I looked a lot of like. We both had long black hair, the same length- just past our shoulder blades. While she had bright yellow eyes, mine were bright pink. "Do you think the boys are back with the branches?" Gracie asked. I nodded and stood up. They together we walked deep into the jungle.
