Part 8

"Why did I find this human leaving without either of you trying to catch her?" Count Diago asked as he threw Chikaru back into the room.
"Father we made a deal with..." Keto said
"SILENCE! What have I told you both about making a deal with a human?! How dare you defy me in such a way!"
"But father.." Candy spoke up.
"No! none of your excuses. I should've known not to send the two of you on a mission like this. I should've known you couldn't handle it."
"YES WE CAN!" Keto and Candy shouted back.
"You insolent little brats. I knew I should've given Nichu, your older brother, the task of capturing her. He wouldn't show mercy and the weaknesses you two do."
"You always have him invade everything! Why do you rely so much on him?" Keto hissed." The three of them began a shouting match.
Sandina helped Chikaru to her feet. "Chikaru, let's get the heck outta here." Sandina whispered. Chikaru lightly nodded and they started to sneak towards the door.
Chikaru slipped through the door and Sandina followed close behind. "Ya know, I don't think those three get along very well."
"You're telling me. But it would be nice to see vampires fighting."
"That's just like you Sandina. You would want to see how it would turn out. You're reckless."
"Yeah, but it would've made a very interesting show. I wonder if they realized yet that we're gone."
"I doubt it. I can still hear their yelling echoing throughout the cave." Chikaru opened the front door and stepped out. She started falling like a brick. Sandina caught her left arm and the two were dangling from the front portch. "He wasn't kidding when he said he lived on a cliffside. This is a dead end drop."
"Just hang on to my hand Chikaru. I'll try to pull us up."
"Hey Sandina, don't look now, but below us are some Sea Monsters."
"Oh man... this sucks. I don't know how to kill those things. Did we do that class?"
"It happened yesterday. You fell asleep!"
The boards that Sandina was hanging onto were comng out of the floor. "It figures, the nails are coming out." The board broke and the two started falling down, down, down towards the ocean, Sea Monsters and the sharp rocks below. The end of a rope shot by Chikaru and she grabbed onto it and then Sandina grabbed onto Chikaru's right leg. They slammed up against the rocks on the cliffside and sighed in relief. "Where'd the rope come from?"
"Hey guys! how ya doing?" Kitko said shouting down the cliffside.
"Well, you know us. Just hanging out." Chikaru chuckled.
"Hang on. I'll pull you up." Kitko said pulling on the rope.
"Ya know. That's a really stupid thing to say." Sandina siad.
"What is?" Chikaru asked looking down at Sandina.
"To hang on. Like we really want to let go and fall to our deaths." Sandina said looking down. "That is still a LONG way down." Kitko grabbed CHikaru's wrist and pulled her up. Then CHikaru and Kitko pulled Sandina up.
"It was sure lucky of us that you came along Kitko." Chikaru said leaning back on the ground.
"How'd you know we were here anyway?" Sandina asked.
"It wasn't that hard to follow your trail. I saw the light fom the explosions that you sent off and then I saw Sandina's lightning so I figured you two were in trouble. I may not be a great fighter, but I'm a great tracker."
"Yeah, we owe ya one Kitko." Chikaru said getting to her feet.
"At least we got out and..." Sandina pulled some flowers out of her pocket. We got the cave flowers. But I swear I'm going to kill those boys for setting us up like that."
"What do you mean?" Kitko asked.
"They set us up. They knew those vamps were going to be waiting for us. They gave us up to save their own necks. But Sandina, no need to kill them."
"Fine... I'll beat the crap outta them."
Chikaru sighed, "Well no use trying to talk you outta it."
A huge shadow came above the girls' heads. "What the?" Kitko said looking up. "PHEONIX!"
"That must be Strife." Sandina said.
"How do you fight a pheonix?" Chikau asked.
"I don't know. They never had that class, but I thought they didn't pick sides." Kitko said.
"I don't know either, but I suggest we get out from under it." Sandina said stepping out of its shadow. The pheonix started to land and Chikaru and Kitko dove out of its way. "That is one huge peonix. I thought they were a lot smaller."
"I guess this one is different." Chikaru said.
"Are you three going to get on or not?"
"It talked?!" The girls shouted in astonishment.
"Yes, I Strife, do speak very well. Now if I'm correct, you three are demon hunteresses."
"You're right." Sandina siad.
"I might as well save you three."
"Why would you help us?" Chikaru asked.
"Because those vampires said they weren't going to harm anyone if I agreed to protect them from the sun while they flew. I see they lied so I'm not going to assist them any longer."
"Can you carry all three of us?" Kitko asked.
"Yes. I may only be 10 feet at the tip of my wings, but I can carry two of you on my back and the other one with my tallons."
"Cool. Let's get outta here." Sandina said. Chikaru and Kitko climbed onto Strife's back and Strife grabbed Sandina's shoulders. They flew through the clear blue sky above the tree tops. "Wow. Even though I'm the one dangling this is so cool."
"Are you alright down there Sandina?" Chikaru asked.
"i'm doing great. This view rocks!" Sandina said looking around.
"You girls will be on the bridge between the two cities very soon." Strife flew down into the canyon and Sandina's feet skated along the river.
"Do you want me to go higher?" Strife asked looking down at Sandina.
"i'm fine. this is fun."
"I swear Sandina acts more like a kid than we do." Kitko said.
"It happens that way I guess." Chikaru said. "STOP!"
Strife stopped and looked back at Chiaru. "Is something wrong?"
"Yeah. Look up ahead. Those round balls on the side of the cliff up ahead are holding up an invisible barrier that would kill you if you touched them Strife."
"I didn't see it. Nice catch Chikaru." Sandina said.
"If you let us down here we can climb up the canyon path. It isn't that far from the bridge and then we'll head home." Kitko said.
"Alright." Strife let the girls down by the river bank. "Good luck ladies. Take care of yourselves." The girls waved as Strife flew off into the distance.
"Wow. He was nice. We should have no problems as soon as we pass the barrier." Kitko said.
"Yeah, but thats another four miles away. We should be on our guard. We could run into the trolls that live near the bridge." Sandina siad.
"I still think that's ironic. I guess now we know where the stupid sotries of bridge trolls come from." Chikaru added.
"I don't even know what a real troll looks like." Kitko said.
"oh he's about 4 ft tall, razor sharp teeth, mangled black hair, long yellow nails, green skin, bad breath and eats onions."
"How'd you know it eats onions Sandina." Chikaru asked. Sandina shurgged her shoulders and pointed to the troll stomping towards them. The girls could smell its foul odor from a mile away. "Oh god... it stinks...."
"It burning my eyes." Sandina said tearing up.
"I didn't think it would smell this bad." Kitko said holding her nose.
"They are said to not bathe except once in a hundred years. And from what they eat, no wonder it smells like rotting corps." Sandina said covering her nose with her hands. "I've never smelt one this bad before."
"You smelt them before?" Chikaru asked holding her nose.
"I got a wiff of it when our neighbor was making his signiture stink bombs."
"Let's just try to get around it as soon as possible and pray the smell comes out of our clothes." Kitko said.
"If not, I call having a clothe burning party." Sandina laughed.
