Here on ABET we have sent our reporter (Aidan) on various skirmishes into the realms of BIRTHDAY PARTIES. That's right. While it is over half a year before Aidan's own (4th)18th birthday, our trusted reporter has been visiting those of friends!

The result, DRAMA.

Roll on Friday 8/8/08, 8pm, a pub in Chatham, Kent, England. To make a long story short, female friend engages in small-time girl-on-girl kissing fun. Her boyfriend's little sister sees, has hissy fit, female friend panicks, gets upset.

Later a friend upsets her more by giving her ultimatums (too angry about it to go into detail), I chime in with "You're being a d**k, leave her alone." And if that isn't bad enough, the same a*****e waves me off when I try to comfort her.

Eventually, situation becomes resolved, ish.

Roll on Sunday/Monday (10/11)/8/08, 2am.

Aftermath of a gathering for another friend's after-birthday. His wife leaves the house, walks an ungodly distance, has a fit on a bridge over the river, takes her underwear off for some unknown reason, and makes no sense on the phone while we try to find her.



Well, those sucked, huh?



At least some celebrations go to plan.

Did I say go to plan? I meant 'go haywire but end up ok'

It's the 1 year mark for Michelle and I. EVENTUALLY I manage to get online after a DAY LONG internetbuggery, say happy 1 year anniversary, and send her my gift, a fairy tale written bespoke just for my love, by me.

I don't think any of my friends thought I could make this relationship work. I mean, we're 3,900 miles apart in a straight line. We've never met, kissed, hugged or even held hands, but we're in love, and I think with a year under our belts people at my end are starting to see the sparkle that's always been in my eye when I talk about my sweetheart. They say "You sound really into her, man," and I tell them It's always been that way, they just chose to ignore the seriousness of my love until now, until I announced to all of them that a whole year has gone by without any loss of love. In fact, we seem to get more into each other by the day.

I love my Michelle.



Onto the final part of today's show.

Money.

Anyone over the age of 18 knows why I made that word a sentence of its own. Because it is a sentence. A life sentence. Life without parole, forced to scrabble together as much of it as you can to keep yourself alive. Currency is the only feature of communism I can really get behind.

It goes too quickly, and even though we know we need it for important things, we still wander into that book shop and find the complete set of AD&D 2nd Ed books for a total of £22...
