I met a girl recently. She says she doesn't really like music. That got me to thinking if she knew about music or not.
If she had only listened, or if she had experienced it.
If she had ever heard a song that spoke to her so deeply, echoed her own thoughts so exactly, that it brought her out of a depression, or helped her to find her purpose in her life, or helped her to realize to be her own person.
If she had ever listened to the lyrics, and heard such a beautiful melody, one that brought tears flowing from her cheeks, one that made her heart hurt, and her ears twinge from the perfection of it, and her hands ache for the chance to touch even one little bit of that perfect melody in a tangible form.
If she had ever found a song that was so powerful, its energy flowed through her, gave her strength, made her nearly convulse from its sheer power, and had it weigh down on her chest, crushing her lungs, and no matter how hard she tried, how quickly or how deeply she breathed, she could never satisfy that desire for oxygen.
There are songs out there. I have experienced them, and I feel very sad for anyone that has yet to have these experiences.
She says she does not like music. I think that she has only listened.
