Well, here I am in Nicaragua. I'm staying at La Vida Nica with my older sister, Julia. It's not as humid here as it is where I live in Texas.
My dad and I got here yesterday morning. I don't think the last part of the flight was very kind to my dad, as he can get restless at times. Usually the last part of the flight the pilot wants you to stay in your seat, which proved to be quite difficult for Dad because he was getting up quite a bit.
Julia picked us up at the small airport in Managua. Well, it's small compared to all the other airports I've been to in the United States. After she picked us up, we went to have lunch at a little Italian place that she knew of. It was really nice. I had some penne pasta with some sort of alfredo sauce with tomato paste and a thick, instant tea that I had to water down. Dad and Julia had pizza.
After lunch, Julia dragged us to the store (I really didn't mind all that much) to get groceries for us and one of the interns. We really didn't get that much, but it was enough to get us through a couple of days. Or at least it should be enough. At least there's coffee here, even if it's not the kind I like. Coffee is coffee.
We got back to the condos and Dad and I settled in while Julia unpacked the boxes Dad and I brought for her and her husband, Dane. They're quite happy with the stuff. I relaxed for a bit, then headed for the pool. I swam around for a bit, then walked down to the beach. There's not much to see, and that area of the beach isn't ideal for surfing, much less swimming. There was a sign that said "Danger: Do Not Swim". Very helpful for someone who isn't very bright.
I went back to the room and took a bath, then got dressed. Julia said that we were invited to a little dinner part with Kent, one of the people Dane and Julia work with. I can't remember exactly what he does. Anyway, the dinner was nice, even if I was a little bored. There wasn't really anyone I could relate to, since everyone there was 23 and older and I'm only 19. After dinner, we came back and I got ready for bed. I fell asleep 10 minutes after I hit the hay.
Well, I'd better go now. I'll try to keep you updated. See ya!
