The Story of Ryu Hi
Before the Yamato Period, there was a great and noble fighter who wandered the lands defending those in need. Since she was a woman during times when women did not fight, she frequently disguised herself so that few would know much about her. She kept her head low, but even so myths and legends arose of a ghost warrior with glowing gold eyes. Her life was a quiet one overall. She protected innocents and disappeared without saying a word. Under normal circumstances her existence in the uninhabited regions of Japan's mountains would have gone totally normally, ending naturally with her either dying of old age or her life being ended in combat, even catching a disease and that being her end would not have been unheard of during those times. Apparently when she was 18 years old she came across a traveler alone on one of the roads that led to a small village. Being that it was late at night, she offered him protection on his way to the village, which he accepted. She was not seen again for more than 500 years, but still the legends persisted. A women in one village about five years after Ryu's disappearance claimed that while she was on her way home one evening. She was rescued from a group of men by a warrior with glowing eyes, who appeared in their midst and slayed them all in an instant, then vanished as quickly as she appeared. Many accounts like this one arose though the years, but since the apparition spoke to none of the people and no bodies were ever found, the stories were never looked upon as more than folklore or old wives tales. With time memories of the ghost warrior faded from memory...
