I cried today.
Today, I prepared a beautiful dish for a customer at the Heritage Restaurant on campus. It was broiled tropical talapia(fish), drizzled with olive oil and lemon juice served over a light tarragon butter sauce with a side of herbed couscous. I did a highly impressive job with that dish. Even my teacher was in awe at my prowess-she took a picture! The server came to the back, took it to the front and we waited with bated breath to hear what the customer would say. No sooner had the plate touched the table than did we hear:
May I have some tartar sauce?
A beautiful dish ruined by ignorance. What will become of my profession? Does anyone savor the flavor of a well prepared dish anymore?!
