Rose and Toasts
Rose learned something about the kitsunes that she had not expected. As much as historically kitsunes were jokers, they were serious about their politics and their schmoozing. She lost count of how many toasts she had to partake in in order to appease the different counselors and Den Leaders, County Wardens and all sorts of other politicians. She smiled and accepted their congratulations on her coronation, along with their wishes that she be the one to help bring about the solution to this or that particular problem of theirs. She knew that she would be hearing more of it later, and that her job certainly was not going to be an easy one. But she was confident that it would work out. After all, she had a good support group.
But after a few hours, she noticed suddenly that her laughter was louder than that of the people around her. She wouldn't have noticed, really, had she not hear someone mention that the new Queen would have to work harder at not being such a lightweight.
At that point, Rose turned and looked for Kyrre. He was near. He'd been near all night. She walked over to him and sighed.
"I think if I stay out here much longer, I might accidentally sign away the kingdom. Is it possible to... turn in early?" Rose asked.
Kyrre noticed the flush in her cheeks. He wondered if she'd noticed that she'd lost enough concentration that she'd let her wings come back in, and her fur fade away back to her skin. He called ANTIE-D over, and had her escort Queen Rose to her new bedroom suite.
ANTIE-D secured the outer door to the bedchamber, and then stationed herself outside the suite.
Rose saw the huge oak bed and smiled. It wasn't home, but it was starting to feel like it could be.
