Today was an semi-interesting day, I had worked my usual shift after taking my mother around for some errands. My co-worker actually wanted me to go and buy Panda Express. This wasn't unusual by any means but its how it happened that stood out to me. He always goes on about how broke he is, we work full time together 4-5 days a week always he wants me to buy him food and share my stuff when I buy it with my own money. To me I don't believe him about being broke, every two weeks he says he "Has to pay rent" EVERY TWO WEEKS?! that is unheard of even for living in this little capital of a desert town. Lets go back on point before I go three or four paragraphs about how odd and unorthodox it is. He asked me if I would go to panda express and gave me a twenty dollar bill. I was okay with going because its right up the road from our store and it is conveniently located next to a grocery store! so I took an extra five minutes and bought me an inexpensive dinner.
I have become known as a regular at that panda express store and it is always flattering when I walk in and the workers know me. I finally understand what it means to be treated as a regular, I used to always strive myself to make all my customers feel this way even before I got this new gas station position. Anyways they went and packed up my order since I always ordered the same thing for my co-worker it was nice to not have to say anything. Here is the interesting thing, two of the girls both packed my order so by the end of my transaction I had two meals. I offered to pay for the mistake duplicate but they insisted that it would be free. I always hate to get free food and not to be picky or ungrateful but I didn't care for the order. But I took it and graciously thanked them as best as I could and I had no idea what I was going to do with that extra meal because I certainly was not going to eat it. On my way back to my store however I was sitting at a red light and there was a young kid standing at the corner of the intersection.
His sign was the typical, "Homeless, Hungry, Anything will help! God Bless" but it was weird how I felt compelled to watch him. He must have only been about sixteen or seventeen and definitely not from around town. I drove past him but as I got to the next intersection I flipped a U-turn and went right back to where he was and I thought he could use that extra meal that I got for free. I have more then enough food, enough money, a job, and a really good life so it has almost become instinct to help out those who gave up already. I always help if I am able to and I believe that I am usually a good judge of character. So I stopped in the middle of traffic and called him over and passed him the extra food, his eyes were almost confused but he gladly took the food and thanked me. I wanted to make a dramatic scene and ask him his name, and maybe pass along a wisdom quote or two but I was holding up traffic and almost got hit by an impatient driver.
I don't know but there have been a lot of young homeless lately? I actually have never seen this many ever. It get to me when I see a young girl standing in the middle of the roads with a colorful backpack, or a young guy who looks like he has been through hell and back and is still standing. I am still young, 21 isn't bad but I just cant stand to see young homeless kids... Just about an hour ago I was nearing my trailer park and saw another young girl 14-15 it is dark but she was dragging her suitcase behind her and she had one of those animal faced beanies... it was also about to start raining.. I know everyone dreams about winning the powerball or lottery and I do to, Except I would make sure a lot of the homeless kids and teens I see would never have to endure the hardships that they are going through. I just want to take care of those who have given up but are still going, it kills me and makes me go absolutely batshit insane. I have a lot of other things going on in my mind right now but this was the dominating box. End Transmission.
