“Someone will remember us…. Even in another time.” -Sappho
The water wasn’t too far below. She would be fine when she dropped, but she was noting distances with them following so close behind and them directing more to come to the location. There wasn’t really another option to escape. She would have to make the leap. Her hair felt damp already from the humid night air. There was no breeze off the water.
“I don’t know why you won’t just surrender. They have what they need to follow through.” He stood on the railing looking down at her with a smirk. “Come with me and watch it play out.”
She pulled herself into a crouch on the same railing beside him as the lights were converging on the brickwork across the bridge. She didn’t look up at him. She kept looking back down at the water below and glancing back at the lights getting ever closer. “I’d rather not. Another time?” She smiled as she dropped off. Her body pointed downward, as her fingers touched the surface the light glimmered and she dove right in.
The cold caught her off guard and put her in a slight shock. She hated when the seasons changed during a time jump. She fought the urge to gasp. Her body was fully submerged in the icy water and she reached for the surface. Her hands met a solid wall of ice where she had jumped through. ********. Some daylight was filtering in and she looked around through the slightly murky water for any dark patches. She noticed a section. She swam towards it as her limbs were growing heavy and her hand touched the edge. The cold made her lungs burn as she surfaced and took a breath.
Someone shouted. She looked around as she started kicking and then rolled herself onto the ice. At least the water is still there in this time period. There was a moment when she initially started jumping and she jumped into a moat only to find that the moat didn't exist anymore after she jumped through and broke her ankle during training. At least it's not some sludge pond either. She crawled off the ice before shaking out of her jacket. Literally, cause her body was shivering and she was growing tired.
“Oh! I didn't see you fall in that hole. Let me help you!” The woman curiously took her jacket from her hands and led her away. “My name is Reva. Follow me and I’ll get you warmed up.”
Reva hurried her out of what looked like a cluttered park with little buildings full of souvenirs. “It’s really funny how your location ended up at the tourist spot. It would make hiding your entry rather easy because of all the footprints around that area.” The wind cut sharply and she stumbled a bit with Reva beside her. “We’re almost there. I’ve got warm clothes for you to throw on. There’s a festival tomorrow so you shouldn’t have a problem hiding your business while you’re here. Really you have done marvelously in logistics despite not really being able to plan when and how you jump.” They crossed an empty street and walked immediately up to a side door of an apartment building. Reva let her go and she leaned against the wall as Reva scanned her fingerprint and eye.
“You need that much security?”
Reva shrugged and opened the door. “Everyone has this level now a days. Mine is really quite rudimentary compared to some of the others. Some of them have voice recognition too, and I just can’t bring myself to shout at my door to open.”
The door unlocked and she used the old key to enter.
“Excuse the mess. I have been taking quite a few clients lately. It’s surprisingly been a busy season for me. Just undress behind that screen. What is your name for the registry?”
“Choice.” She sat in the chair behind the screen and started removing the wet clothing. She was safe for the time being. The guide always gives direction. Sometimes not very great direction or very precise with their calculations.
“So I will apologize, my calculation was off for the drop point, but you found the hole in the ice that I left for you alright, so no harm, no foul. I’ll put a kettle on and give you an update on what your next assignment is. The change of clothes is in the trunk.”
Choice was still shaking when she lifted the lid and looked through the trunk. The clothes were different than what she had arrived in, but that’s the case in every situation.

Things I write for no apparent reason other than to pass the time. Most stories have no endings, but contain an awful lot of meaningless dialogs. Other entries are basically boring life occurrences that have nothing to do with my stories whatsoever.
