Unfortunate News...
Happy to say that we've discovered one of my grandfather's crewmen.... sad to say that he died January 10, 2007. Michael L. Kostan's name was found in one of my grandfather's WWII magazines recently, in the obituary section. Kostan's wife had posted the news of his death and is asking for any information dealing with his life in the war. My grandfather called and spoke with her. We are sending her copies of the photos taken by Lester Drum including copies of the flight notes and crew listings. I know I was expecting something like this to turn up, but I still feel really sad. Kostan was one of the more lively members of the crew, according to my grandfather, he loved to pull pranks and goof off. One of his pranks was to "short sheet" the other men in his barracks, when he was put to the task of making beds. I hope his wife will be able to tell us a bit about his life after the war.
